Has anyone ever enabled any abnormal side-effects by enabling this option? It has the benefit of cutting down load times (sometimes by a significant margin), although it tends to be disabled by default. I've enabled it for the couple dozen games I have on my system and haven't noticed anything different beyond the expected shorter load times.

Perhaps this is an option that could be enabled by default, and disabled only when/if a particular title experiences issues with it?
I've noticed a few games act strangely with this option enabled. The option can be enabled in properties, so you can already add it to the games that you want to use it with. There is no need to force it on for everyone and every game when we really have no idea how every game is going to act with this. That's just my opinion, though.
I personaly check this "option" in a lot of games (mainly GC games). It often reduces load times indeed

What sort of games act strangely with it enabled? It seems like most of the people I've seen that know about the option enable it for all of their titles since it makes it a more enjoyable experience. I haven't personally seen any negative effects with it, and haven't seen any specific games listed as problematic.

For one, Knockout Kings 2003. With this option enabled there are three smaller squares on the screen mirroring what happens during the game.

Huh, that is strange. Glad to know that there actually is something out there that doesn't play nicely with it, though!
Mario Golf needs the option disabled to go in-game.
maybe there should be a wiki page for which gmaes to enable or for? possible side effects, speed increase of games (the actual loading times average) it seems dolphin has alot of options to mess with yet they aren't well documented, just a crude discription of what they do.
LoZ: TP use to need it to howl :3, but I think it was fixed.

But who is going to do all that testing?
