When I try to open an .iso, Dolphin says it is an invalid file. I know it is a good iso. Are there special steps I have to take to get Dolphin to like my .iso?

If it's a Wii disc image, I think recent revisions of Dolphin can do an integrity check (right click the game in Dolphin) and that might shed some light on your situation. If not, redump your game anyway. How do you know the ISO is good, e.g. have you played it on another computer?
I know it is probably good because all of the files in it look correct.
So, how to I re-dump it?
It'a a gamecube game.
Quote:all of the files in it look correct

What do you mean by "all the files"?
What's the format of your iso?
Did you extract it?

redump means, that you should dump your game again. You got the ISO from your original game disc through CleanRip, Rawdump etc. right? So repeat this.

Yeah, files can "look" correct, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the binary data in them is any good. If Dolphin is complaining, then something's wrong with it.
I'd bet for a partitioned iso that wasn't gathered or something like that
So, I have a .rar file with the contents of the disk in it. Where do I go from there?

Where'd the .rar file come from?
Just extract it
