Can you try some more demanding games and see how they perform? SMG 1 + 2 for example.

I have the new macbook pro 2012 with a ivy bridge dual core cpu(Clocked at 2.5 turbo to 3.1) with 4 gigs of ram and my gpu is the intel hd 4000
I'm going to laugh if he left IR on auto integral which only goes up to 3x.

Are you sure you don't have a discrete gpu? The HD 4000 is not powerful enough to handle anything over 1x or 1.5x IR for most games. And you're running at an IR 4-8 times as high as that.
