First of all, I made a mistake, I thought you had a 2600(K), that's why I thought we could compare our results.
It seems you have an i7 920.
We'll need someone who has a 920 to compare with you.
And yes, what NV said, should you want an upgrade, go for an Ivy or Sandy Bridge.
Anyway, I clocked my CPU down to 3.8GHz and I got a solid 55~60FPS for the first part, up until the Command Bridge. I stopped playing there.
That's with EFB to Texture, not RAM. RAM was slightly slower, around 50~60FPS or so.

Have you got a link to anything specific. But i am on a budget.
thanks

What sort of budget?
$300?
$400?
$500?
Just asking.

I could pick up the 980x for around £355 in my currency - I think thats around$500 ish
Update:
Okay, it would appear that the 980x is basically my only option since its the fastest CPU for my Mobo, Unfortunatly i am on the dead 1366 socket and there are no IVYs or Sandys on this socket.
Fortunatly the 980x is unlocked and has MUCH MUCH better overclocking potential than my current first gen i7 C0.... Maybe i can get closer to 4.5 maybe even 5ghz with my watercooling setup.
Thanks!
Craig
On scan I can find a z77 board for £71.72, and an i5 3570K for £167.94, or an i7 3770k for £252.20. That's cheaper than your 980x.

I really don't want to change my board, It cost me a fortune and cannot really justify getting rid of it

I would have to agree with others, changing you board is best option, because buying new board + new cpu will not cost you more then just buying expensive 980x and it will be better, because its new techology and its faster.
Not to mention you can sell you old board and cpu,and it will be even cheaper that way
I guess your right, the thing what puts me off, is i just got my OS reinstalled 2 weeks ago and all the software on, because its RAID i would have to wipe my drivers and start again - I don't thinkits really worth it.
Surely if i can get the 980x its gotta be better than my i7 920 C0? and the fact it can overclock better should account for somthing?
You'll be blowing a tonne of money unnecessarily, and not getting the maximum benefit. I'd really recommend the ivy bridge route. It may take longer to get everything working perfectly, but then getting a new processor will take longer than leaving your PC as it is. If you can be bothered to do a CPU upgrade you must have some free time.
