SS Wrote:Are you saying you prefer to play Xenoblade over a Mario or Zelda game?
Right now, yes. I purposely didn't name franchises since I haven't beaten every game yet.
I already bought the Wii twice for Zelda.
SS Wrote:If you would, that's great. But you probably wouldn't buy a console just for Xenoblade, but you probably would just for Mario or Zelda.
I would. IMO the game is on par with the high quality of Zelda and Mario games.

Quote:Mario, Zelda and Metroid are worth more than any other console can ever come up with. That's why you buy a Nintendo console. Nintendo first-party games are better than any third-party games they can ever hope for. You should know this already. Not to mention Smash Brothers, Kirby, Wario, DK, Yoshi, Sonic and other great characters/games. Third-party games are a plus, but not a deal breaker.
They make a few good/ok games and lots of shovelware. That's about it.
Most of my favorite games are 3rd party. Ocarina of time is the only first party game that I can think of off the top of my head that makes the list.
Not to mention all of the creativity is coming out of 3rd party developers these days.
Quote:Disagree? You don't even know anything about the SDK, and you've come to a conclusion.
Do you want me to believe that nearly the entire game development community hates it for no good reason?
Quote:Gearbox seems to really like it.
Did I miss something? They don't even use it.
Quote:They won't release their consoles for a while, so the Wii U will be able to gather third-party devs in these years.
1-2 years is not enough time. If the hardware of the next xbox and ps are substantially better than they will fall into the same trap that they fell into with the wii.
Quote:Don't forget that there are developers working on games behind the scene. Think Monolith, XSEED, etc.
Well I can't count those obviously. We can only use the data (games) that we actually know about.
Quote:I disagree. There are third-party games which are undoubtedly better than first-party games. One example being Xenoblade. I've never had so much fun in a game before.
Yes! This I agree with. Xenoblade is far better than anything nintendo has produced in the last 10 years.
Quote:Are you saying you prefer to play Xenoblade over a Mario or Zelda game?
I would too. Mario/zelda game does not automatically mean good. They are characters, nothing more. Don't get too attached to them or you'll find yourself wasting money.
Quote:If you would, that's great. But you probably wouldn't buy a console just for Xenoblade, but you probably would just for Mario or Zelda.
That logic makes no sense. If we prefer xenoblade over mario/zelda why would we buy the console just for mario/zelda and not just for xenoblade?

Another quality post by Gir......

Yes. "Too hard to develop for" is a sign of laziness or hate.
If Gearbox and Team Ninja can do it, why can't they?
NV Wrote:Did I miss something? They don't even use it.
You missed something then.
They do. They're the developers of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

You have a funny way of oversimplifying things and leaving out important facts to suit your needs.

Right now, yes.
Obviously he had the chance to emulate all of these games on his PC, so he didn't need to choose a console. Obviously since he played all of the Zelda, Metroid and Mario games already, he wanted to play something new right now. Obviously if a Nintendo fan had to choose, he wouldn't buy a "PS4" for Xenoblade when the Wii-U has all of your favorite Nintendo games. Consider all the facts, not just one snippet of a portion of a sentence that you choose to quote. We're talking about an all new "unemulatable" console, not games we've all played for many years already and have the freedom to emulate at will. All new Nintendo, Mario, Metroid and Zelda adventures (and the rest) are going to hold a premium over one game that you have to buy an entire console for.

This was your entire post:

All I did was restate exactly what you implied.

This makes even less sense! Xenoblade is a wii exclusive just like zelda/mario games. And you can emulate it just as well as mario/zelda games. It's just a 3rd party exclusive, that was the whole point. If we love xenoblade but not zelda/mario games why would we buy a wii just for zelda/mario games but not just for xenoblade?
I guess @Garteal is a great RPG fan as I am. Playing such great games as Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story and some other great japanese games never exported is always a pleasure. Of course a Mario game is always a Mario game : I see one, I buy one. But I'm always more excited when I see a great RPG : thinking about hours I'm gonna spend on it etc

NV: You tire me, sonny. I need a nap now. If you still missed it, then you'll have to go on missing it.
Look it's really simple:
Premise 1: I like xenoblade a lot
Premise 2: I think modern Zelda/mario games are ok, not as good as xenoblade
Logical conclusion: I might buy a wii for xenoblade but probably not for zelda/mario.
Your conclusion: I would buy a wii just for zelda/mario but not just for xenoblade.
Both are wii exclusives that are well emulated by dolphin so that doesn't really factor into this. Your conclusion simply doesn't fit with either of the premises that you established.

... may I add that I always play games on the console first?
Plus I already own the Wii twice.

Read my last post. You asked me a question, I answer it how I feel about it right now.
I added that I haven't beaten all Mario and Zelda games yet.
SS Wrote:Obviously if a Nintendo fan had to choose, he wouldn't buy a "PS4" for Xenoblade when the Wii-U has all of your favorite Nintendo games.
Why not? What stops you from getting both consoles?
SS Wrote:All new Nintendo, Mario, Metroid and Zelda adventures (and the rest) are going to hold a premium over one game that you have to buy an entire console for.
So you want to bring the whole top tier list of Nintendo to rival against a single exclusive on another console?
