There might be some hope for me and the U if they're going to allow a real controller to be used.
For that Pro Controller, wonder why they decided to put the joysticks on the upper half of the controller. Most I've seen keep both or at least one (usually the right) on the bottom. Seems a bit awkward in design, perhaps simply because it's unlike current conventions.

The Game Pad is still very iffy for me, so I'll be glad to have any kind of traditional controller available. I'd play it with the WiiU off, that seems pretty cool, but for everything else, I'd play it with a traditional controller.

Just waiting for the price and release dates now. I've been playing Nintendo systems for more than 20 years, so I'm always excited for their latest gear.
man, the Pro controller looks very nice Big Grin Should be pretty ergonomic ^^

The Wii U Gamepad is just like a 'real' controller as the Wii U Pro Controller is.

One thing I really like about it, is that looking at the Zelda Tech demo, it's possible to eliminate the HUD from the TV screen,
and have it entirely on the controller. It makes for a much better and immersive experience.

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. I wonder how it'll feel. Nintendo is known for their crazy controller designs, remember the N64?

One of the few controllers I like.

A lot of people speculate it will cost around $300. Would you pay this much for it?
I don't think I'd be able to cope with both sticks at the top. Good thing thaqt I'm not getting one, so it won't matter.
le me hopes that wii games that can use a GC controller can use a pro controller :o

Yeah, the N64 came to mind immediately. I liked it for the most part, but it was a bit of an oddball. After that, to a lesser extent, was the Virtual Boy's, which was one of the few controllers I've seen that came with two separate D-pads. The N64's was good for every kind of game except one: first person shooters.

I can't believe I tried playing FPS games on the N64; the best setups (main stick to aim, c-stick to walk and strafe) was inversed from the norm e.g. nowadays the left thumb moves and the right aims (though it can be changed, this setup is usually the default). Playing Perfect Dark on an N64 emulator and a good joypad turns it into a proper dual-stick FPS, and makes a world of difference from the original, imo. :p

That's pretty much what I expect from consoles today. That's the price I bought my 360 and PS3 (once Sony stopped being ridiculous about it, that is). I can afford to drop that kind of money when I want to, thankfully. Of course, I learned my lesson with the 3DS; not gonna buy the system until I see a game that I truly want (wasn't into SF4, or any of their other launch titles).

Hehe agreed. Though it was still a blast playing Goldeneye 64.

Wasn't it the other way around?
Main stick to walk, strafe and the C-buttons for aiming?

Shonumi Wrote:That's pretty much what I expect from consoles today
It'll be the first Nintendo console to ever cost that much, if mind serves. Tongue
Judging from the nice Zelda tech demo we've seen, it probably has some nice hardware in it. If that appears to be true, I guess it'll be well worth the $300.

It's still fresh on the market. I'm pretty sure it'll become a target for great RPG games.
Monster Hunter will come to the 3DS, that alone is a reason to have a 3DS.
You should check it out if you haven't.

I'm pretty sure they had enough controller setups so that you could choose from either. But my friends and I used main stick to aim, C-buttons to walk, as that was more accurate to run and shoot. Aiming with the C-buttons is cumbersome, so we found it easier to use them for movement, the same way WASD works on a keyboard. I wouldn't try aiming with WASD :p. The joystick wasn't near as accurate as a mouse, but it sufficed for us.

It'll still be lower than the initial prices for the 360 ($400.00) and the PS3 ($500 for 20GB version) when those first came out, so that makes me happy. I have an issue of EGM that accounted for console launchs and game prices across many generations with inflation. I forget what the conclusion was exactly, but something along the lines that things are about the same, give or take, when inflation is added. I'll have to find it again, it's an interesting read.

Well, I've actually had mine for a little over a year. I was just disappointed by the initial offering. LoZ:OoT 3D should have been a launch title, totally unacceptable. Anyway, I'm hoping it'll be a great platform for RPGs. So far I've only bought Tales of the Abyss (not interested in the Shin Megami Tensei series at all). Waiting on Paper Mario, and Golden Sun obviously is getting a sequel too, just dunno if it'll be for the 3DS or not (hopefully though). I was banking on Mega Man Legends 3, but... Other than that, waiting for KH:BBB to come out. I'll check out MH when it comes out, now that I have some income to dispose of. Wink

Speaking of the 3DS, does anyone know how it might play into the Wii U? There were some good ideas for handheld-console connectivity with the GBA and GCN, but the idea was kinda downplayed with the DS and Wii (except in some games, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc).

Great game! You'll really like it if you liked Symphonia.

Shonumi Wrote:not interested in the Shin Megami Tensei series at all
Wha-? How come? I heard it's a pretty good RPG franchise.

Sure, do post it when you found it.

Nintendo seems to have plans for that.
All we know so far, is that they'll both have a Mii Wara Wara.
Hopefully we'll hear more of that Tuesday.
