I think that is a good point if you are living in USA, i do not. I heard people make 7-8 dollars an hour at Mcdonalds in US, let me put it this way: workers here do 7-8 dollars a day so that statement of "spending a few more dollars" its more like "spending alot of cash" here, im a student and it takes a long long time to me to make that cash (cause i have other needs like buying books, bus, etc), i do not make more than 700-800 per year.

The processor does the job for me, it fullfills all my expectations. I can play the games i wanted at full speed with the settings i wanted, i dont really care about mario galaxy 2 or any other demanding games mainly cause we dont have them phisically so i believe it does the job for me and people who are in a similar situation.

Under the right circumstances (like the inflation in your country, how much it is the cpu compared to others where you live, how much you make a year, price of other hardwre, what games you are planning to play etc etc, its not just reading benchmarks and opinions) id say it is a good option, again, it is under certain circumstances.

Extremedude2: Id never said it has something to do with cpu, just wanted to ilustrate that if you are a normal user or you do not notice alot of diferente with perfect gaming experience there is no point in buying high price hardware, maybe it was a redaction error of mine.

IR does not affect cpu load. For most games you HAVE to buy a top of the line cpu if you want it to run well.

You got lucky.

You happen to only play games that aren't very demanding. And you happened to find a deal that made the FX 8120 way cheaper.

Over here in the US the 2500K is 12% more expensive than the FX 8150 ($25 more). If you're building a new system this results in about a 3-4% increase in system cost usually. Meanwhile the 2500K is MASSIVELY better in every measurable way which in turn makes the system massively better. The reason the prices on fx cpus are dropping is because they're garbage and almost nobody is buying them. People aren't going to buy a piece of hardware that is significantly inferior unless it is also significantly cheaper, which at the moment it isn't. AMD is starting to get fairly desperate.

The situation that you happened to find yourself in is extremely rare.

I totally agree with you Wink and i totally would have bought the i5 if i was in the US, however in other countries prices can explode sometimes in certain brands, like intel in my case.

Part of why it was cheap here is because of what you said, no one was buying so they had to drop prices, that talks bad for AMD for sure but its good news for poor oportunists like me Big Grin, i wouldnt call the cpu garbage tough, at the US price it originally was i will no question, but at the price i got it i would say it is just ok, not spectacular but it isnt a bad deal either.

Depends on the application that you're running. For dolphin even an i3 or pentium sandy bridge will beat a bulldozer based cpu.

Do you wanna pay for it for us who can't afford it huh? The person you're replying to and me got the best bang for our buck so as long as we're happy we don't care.

Yes it does turning it up or down does change performance!
I posted videos proving it does the job for gaming and Dolphin is the only one that doesn't always run full-speed for me so huh! And its only a few games that have issues once in awhile mostly runs great on those games. I paid less than $900 with everything including a 23 inch LED 3d capable monitor!! Xbox wireless dongle and everything else. A decent case that keeps everything cool with plenty of space and I had to use other site cause my newegg account was messed up and I could saved at least $200 from newegg with a better case hard-drive and RAM. I know cause I had it all in my cart. I did plenty of research before I started thinking of getting it and I wanted to check it out. How do you think you can tell people their CPU is garbage when they're using it loving it when you're bashing it and not even using it. Again the whole point here4 isn't that AMD is better. We all know intel is da bomb if you can afford it but like me others can't. I pay bills, rent, cable, internet, Home phone, cell phone, a wife (lol), Water, electric, Gas, and all house holds needs Plus 2 big dogs and a snake!!!! O yeah food!!!

The wife helps too, just meaning I have alot more than computers and myself to worry about.

Because every single piece of benchmarking data collected about it points to one inevitable conclusion. That it is grossly inferior to similarly priced or cheaper alternatives.

Quote:Again the whole point here4 isn't that AMD is better. We all know intel is da bomb if you can afford it but like me others can't.

First of all we are not saying that Intel is better than AMD. We are simply stating that this particular microarchitecture (codenamed bulldozer) is not a good choice for dolphin. Second of all Intel is not more expensive than AMD. Just like AMD that sell a variety of products at different price points. Only their top of the line products are more expensive. If you had purchased an i3 or pentium sandy bridge they would have performed better and they cost half as much.

The reason we are pressing this issue is because if you go around recommending this cpu to others on this forum and they choose to listen to your advice they will come back here and complain, which we don't want to have to deal with.

This is irrelevant information.
People that keep saying this AMD FX is running well it's a beast, etc... Are simply denying the simple fact that they did choosed a wrong CPU for gaming.
ok and if that happened it would be me that had to deal with it not you. And benchmarks don't tell you everything and I read them not much of a difference and second I play all types of games that run full speed, Super Mario Galaxy 2 doesn't always and Last story and everything else does and that's without overclocking so it was good enough for me with the budget I had.

That doesn't tell us anything. What games are you running fullspeed? Your speed differs per game.

d3monr3no Wrote:and all types of games on ultra like wow diablo 3 assassins creed aion starcraft 2 re5 re ORC street fighter x tekken dragon age secondlife
Those 'types' of games are called PC games. They're more depended on your GPU than your CPU.
You don't compare PC games to emulation... ever.

Most of them are 1~10 second clips of games that doesn't even make sense to upload.

You only have 2 Dolphin video's, which clearly proofs that you are unable to run the game at fullspeed.

For instance, in the first video, you're starting the game and you can't even keep the 60FPS...
In the second video, you still arn't ingame and you're dropping to 30FPS even.

Now, I know that FRAPS kills your FPS a bit, but it shouldn't drop so much if you could play your game 'fullspeed' in the first place.

Big Grin Well said my men well said...
