Fixed that for you. And yes llanos IPC is essentially comparable to core 2 duo/quad.

@Squall

The quotes you listed hit the nail on the hammer but fail to mention a lot of the major contributors to the microarchitectures poor performance. Such as the ALUs pipeline configuration(2 full pipes, 1 pipe that only handles loads, and 1 pipe that only handles stores, whereas phenom II ALUs have three full pipelines). There are lots of detailed analysis articles/papers out there but I like this one a lot in particular: http://www.agner.org/optimize/microarchitecture.pdf

Edit: Fixed. Thanks Shonumi.

Double fix :p I was kinda scratching my head with the way you worded it.

Hey guys, this is my first post and i really don't want to hijack the thread but as a general observation would you say that Intel cpus perform better than amd processors (at similar price tags) when it comes to the dolphin emu ?

i am in the market for a new machine and it would really help

(if im asking in the wrong section please redirect me)

Yes. They definitively do
I think you need to look at some new benchmark test before you keep calling it the faildozer http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=189505

yeah but compared to what an i5 at the same price can do with dolphin i'd say its a no for me

i was actually considering a bugdet system with a 6 core amd 6100 but now ive changed my mind

That is in a nutshell why this thread and the Bulldozer fails. The people who are stuck with and bought that CPU just cannot seem to wrap their heads around that fact.

These benchmarks show it out performs I5 and even I7 in most things.

And what we see here - 4.8GHz FX is about the same, or a bit better or a bit worse than Phenom II X4 955 at 3.8GHz in most 1-2 thread tasks ? And... Phenom II will work at stock voltage in most cases and wont require monstrous cooling, FX will be really good... for cooking.

The only reason to buy Bulldozer is some heavily multithreaded apps in linux - in this case it can actually really rape Sandy Bridge, but it's nothing unusual - 1GHz specialized DSP can easily beat IBM Roadrunner in one single task it was designed for.

Intel was in the same boot - Celeron 600 overclocked to 1GHz was way faster than 1.7GHz P4.

Fixed that for you. Basically you need an extremely specific set of circumstances that very few real world applications fall into for the 8150 to compete with the 2500K.

No it wasn't.

*facepalm*

Why don't you go google some other benchmarks instead of looking at a few synthetic apps and deciding that this reflects the usual performance seen in real world applications.
