So after about 10 hours of getting everything set up correctly, I started playing Xenoblade. The issue I keep running into is getting ridiculously frustrating. I've searched all over the forums and the internet, and can't find anybody with similar issues. I'll just try to make this short and sweet with (hopefully) enough details.

My problem: My PS3 controller's left and right joystick (analog stick) keep moving themselves to the top/top left sporadically and randomly. It makes my cursor in the game move, and my character jags to the top left. It happens a lot, and at random. It's too annoying to deal with anymore. I am setting up my controls through an emulated Wiimote, and using a classic controller extension. (If you need any more information, let me know.)

I've tried changing the revision of the emulator I run on, re-calibrate my PS3 controller to my computer, change the version of Motioninjoy I use, different USB port, but no luck. From what I can tell, this problem only occurs with the Dolphin emulator. No other emulators I use show signs of this random twitching to the top left. (At least I don't think so.)

Please, anybody. It's driving me insane. Does anybody have any idea what's causing it? And I sincerely doubt it's my controller considering it's only months old.

A little off topic, but I was wondering as well..
Is it normal that my button previews flicker? They randomly flicker and I feel like it's almost like a faulty connection. (But I'd hope not, considering I've tried 3 different USB ports.)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. It's too distracting when I'm trying to change equipment and my cursor randomly moves up, or my character has a seizure.

EDIT: I even went through the trouble of making a small youtube video about it. Here's what my problem looks like:

If you focus on the left stick, you'll notice it randomly jumps to the top left. It's hard to catch, because it's very sudden, like I specified. I am the one hitting all the buttons. The only thing I do not touch are the joysticks so you can see the issue properly.
did you adjust the dead zones?

As for the button flicker, does it do that in the control panel gamepads test box? It could be a internal issue with the controller. Not a wire no, but more like sticky or dirty contacts.

Yeah, I tried adjusting the deadzones as well. I tried 20 at first, and it was still doing it. Went all the up to 40-50, and the issue didn't change at all. It's like a sudden burst of movement toward the top left of the controller. I updated the original post with a video so you can get an idea what it looks like from my perspective.
Well I can see it from work so ill try to chime back in later but is sound more and more like a faulty controller to me.

I was going to consider it being faulty as well, until I realized it only did it in the Dolphin emulator. It works like normal anywhere else.
Ok I saw the video, looks very none random IMO I would retract my last statement. Any chance you have a 64bit dolphin with 32bit drivers or the reverse.

Also, make certain you test in the controller panel.

Yeah, I made sure the revision I downloaded was 64bit like my operating system. I did check the controller in the controller panel to see it doesn't twitch like that, like it does in the Dolphin emulator. I just can't pinpoint the issue. :/ What I'm going to do is borrow a friend's controller in a day or two and see if it changes anything. Thanks for trying to help. I'll update if anything new happens.

There is the info I was looking for. Its quit clear its a dolphin issue with that driver. Just to confirm, it does not do this in the game config window, no flickering at all?

Oh, I forgot to look, are you using SDL or direct x for the input driver?direct x is preferred.

I tried both input drivers, and both gave the same results. I borrowed a friends PS3 controller and his USB cable and everything seems to work perfectly now. I don't understand why my original controller was doing that, since it's brand new and doesn't have issues in any other program. Doesn't make much sense overall, but at least it's working now. Thanks for trying to help. Big Grin

Well, I've searched like mad and can't find another thread with this same issue described and solved, so time to be a necromancer! Dead thread, gogogo!

I am having EXACTLY this issue. I have tried exactly the things listed (weird, right?) and I even tried switching controllers / USB cords, and it's still jumping every now and then to the top left. If someone could possibly consider helping me further along, I would love the help. It's officially driving me nuts. Trying to play harvest moon and it keeps making me waste energy on the wrong tile and switching my tools out lol
