It isn't a perfect system though. My calculator has a "solve for x" mode, so it doesn't keep out computers if the computers know to expect this, and it doesn't keep out the mathematically challenged, as there are calculators, and other forums.

Thanks for your confidence in me...
But just because people like me for example ain't good at math doesn't mean we don't have anything good to contribute with.
It's discrimination.
I guess you missed the part where I said: "Nothing against you, of course, Gabriel. Generally speaking.".
Here it wouldn't be a question like that, it'd be something a person should generally know about a computer. Not that anyone was planing to add something like this anyway, it was just a passing comment.
I'm assuming because it would be a better use of the dev's time to actually work on dolphin than unnecessary security features?
Nah, it's not hard to implement something like that, just unneeded.

I know that you said "Nothing against you, of course, Gabriel. Generally speaking."
But I can't help that I somehow felt targeted by what you posted.
I'm a sensitive guy taking things personally, always been.
EDIT:
Maybe we should just lock this thread and let it dissapear in to the crowd of the old threads.
I got the answer from you guys and could registrate, feels like I cheated on a math test in school but anyway.

Very far from perfect indeed. You can just punch it into wolfram alpha or any of the other dozens of automated calculators online:

Not to mention it's an elementary school level arithmetic/prealgebra problem. So it shouldn't keep many people out, in fact I'm pretty sure that was the point.
Gabriel you realize this was intended as a captcha right? This is an elementary school level problem (or maybe 6th or 7th grade depending on the country). It was not meant to keep non-math majors out. The fact that you could not solve it left me staring at the screen is disbelief for about 15 seconds. "I'm not good with math" is not an excuse for not being able to solve this. Not being able to solve this is more along the lines of "I can't do anything above adding and subtracting small numbers". You should be able to solve that problem in your head in about a quarter of a second if you understand even the most basic concepts of math at all. Aren't you supposed to be a programmer or IT or something in real life?

Basic math is a part of everyday life. I suppose you've never opened a savings account before and calculated the interest?

Everyday math is a little bit diffrent from what I posted on page one.
When I opened my savings account I sure didn't have to tell the clerk what the value of x was.
Calculating interest payments is MUCH harder than the problem you listed.

Okay, there seems to be nothing constructive left to do here.
Closed.
