It seems that there are a lot of people who are making the same basic mistakes about posting here and I suspect I may be one of them. I see that the Dolphin team are really trying to clean up the forums and get rid of the rubbish. I see time and time again DefenderX and others having to explain to people about the rules for posting.

To cut a long story short: How about a button in Dolphin that would automatically export all your settings into an easy to read txt file that could be copied and pasted into the forums? I guess it would be easier than people taking screenshots of their settings, would save space on the server and would be easier to parse for the experts here.

Anyway, as I said I'm just thinking out loud. If you like the idea, then great; if not - don't bite me.
I don't think people not posting the correct information has anything to do with how easy or difficult it is to list settings, it just never occurs to them to do it all. People don't read the FAQs or the rules and just jump to posting, that's the issue. That and having zero common sense that if you post a question asking for help, it might be helpful to help us help you by listing all the needed information.
I agree, but I do think that more people would be inclined to post the correct info if they could do it in a single click. This idea wasn't trying to help posters with problems in particular, but also the people who then have to tell them ad nauseum how to post correctly. A bonus would be that all reports would be uniform and could be easily compared.
Some people are born with common sense and some people ain't and no matter how many times you tell them to do this and that they won't listen.
They're ignorant and deserves punishment.

If people can't make proper threads with all the details and information that is requiered to solve the problem it should be insta ban because they didn't read the rules, FAQs, wiki pages like the rest of us.
Forums don't have these things for fun but to facilitate things.

But it doesn't matter, every day is the same. DefenderX is a good supporting member and I give him credit for even try to talk some sense to these people who obviously don't have two eyes to read with.
An excellent idea but it didn't help on pcsx2 and I don't see how it would be any different on dolphin.
Well, that's all it was - an idea. Seems even that can rile some people up though. I'd have thought thought that even if it would save a little time it would be worth it.
Well you're idea is good Tomkun, but like naoan said it didn't helped for pcsx2. People is ignorant and will be for as long as the human race will exist.

Well it's a particularly depressing way of looking at things, but I suppose you are right. Doesn't mean that we shouldn't facilitate the people who want to help though.
Yes let's not be so rough Wink. Anyway when a guy really needs help he's gonna post what he was asked to. And sometimes setting ain't even needed to help him
