I support you correcting him but you don't have to talk that way. You must know that your personal insults and attitude are what prompts your frequent bans from various online communities because you're not stupid, so why do you do it so often?
Returning his disrespect was a given, he won't be given what he doesn't give himself.
Your posts were a lot more.....viscous. It seemed like he was subtly poking fun at you and you responding by calling him an idiot among other things. In other words he punched you in the arm so you responded by repeatedly shooting him in the chest with a 12 gauge. Surely you knew what was going to happen?
I must also point out that from the posts I've seen about 80% of the time you use personal insults you attack first. So it's not like you only ever insult people in self defense. Please stop trying to get yourself banned everywhere you go.

Arguments are akin to territorial disputes, usually they start off as a misunderstanding, especially when one person takes offence to another encroaching on theirs with misrepresented or misguided information.
Taking arguments to pm is not something i ever advise because then things become too personal and people lose their objectivity.
Allowing members to argue heatedly in a thread should be encouraged, and there is most certainly a difference between saying "your argument makes you look stupid" and "you are stupid".
I shall never have respect or follow the warnings of ANY forum staff member who cannot use the words granted to them to argue out, without feeling the urge to ban the other person. This is merely censorship and deserves mutiny.
Communities with such staff, i don't even consider creating a dupe account. I pity the members of the community for having dictators running them.

I agree with all of that. In fact that's pretty much exactly what I say word for word whenever somebody PMs me saying that they would prefer to continue an argument over PM instead in a public thread. However if you just changed your tone a bit people would be more receptive and less likely to argue back using emotional responses (rather than logic or evidence). Just because somebody attacks you or says something stupid does not mean you need to do something that harsh, be the better man from time to time and people will respect you a lot more (although you seem to be doing very well even without it) and strict mods/admins won't warn or ban you. You can still get your point across without the need to insult anybody by just using solid logic and evidence. I think this is a much better way to resolve these issues. I realize that this is probably going to fall on deaf ears since you've basically made up your mind at this point in your life about how you choose to respond to things like this. I agree that in this particular instance you were definitely on the right side and didn't deserve this at all but I've seen you antagonize people before for just being generally clueless, and that usually ends in a pissing match that could easily be avoided. You're probably going to go to town on me for posting this now and continuing this topic but what the hell.
If people find themselves needing to argue back emotionally, then the argument is already lost to them, Did i appear emotional over the fact that Rezard questioned my capacity for obtaining information, no, infact i went back to my wits came up with that last comment regarding myself being eccentric and not being too proud to call him on his foolhardyness.
