It's easier/faster and all of those posts were in direct response to yours so I didn't think it was necessary.
Starscream Wrote:That's an opinion.
Say that to a software development company. They spend huge amounts of money on this "opinion" to enhance their employees productivity.
Starscream Wrote:Like I said, the list is small to non existent.
Gaming systems + media centers + workstations + servers is "small to non-existant"? Have you looked at the number of desktops in circulation lately? It's certainly not small, and there is a reason for that.
Starscream Wrote:Again, that's just an opinion.
Once again, it's not. Money is important to some people. Not spending money to pay for things that don't benefit you in any way or that you don't need is logical.
Starscream Wrote:Maybe you are perfectly content having your PC in one spot forever, but I imagine most people are not.
I recognize that some people need mobility. If that is the case than by all means buy a laptop. However if you don't need the system to have mobility, as is the case for me, then it would incredibly stupid to buy a laptop.
Starscream Wrote:At the very least, you have legs, you're going to be moving at one time or another, chances are you're going to want to easily move your stuff somewhere.
No. You do not always need your system to be mobile. In many circumstances mobility is a non-issue.
Starscream Wrote:Saying that the ability to easily move something from one place to another is a waste is pretty silly.
It depends on what the system is being used for. You should rarely ever need to move a workstation, server, media center, or gaming setup. And in many cases it should never need to be moved.
Starscream Wrote:I can see you now, "hey friend, I just bought this laptop, yeah, only issue is that they made it so damn easy and enjoyable to move and use that my desktop has tons of dust on it. I think I'll take this laptop apart and put it inside a big box on my desk instead."
How about this actual conversation with a coworker I had about a month ago (who will not be named for privacy reasons):
Me: Hey (coworker) how much did that new gaming laptop you bought cost you?
Coworker: About $1,200.
........(dots indicate other parts of conversation I'm skipping over)
Me: Do you ever actually move the thing?
Coworker: No I have it set up to use my plasma screen.
Me: Are you beginning to see the problem here?
Coworker: *Smiles and laughs when he realizes what I'm getting at*
He apparently doesn't even play a lot of games on it. He basically uses it as a media center *facepalm*. He should have saved some money and bought a better desktop since he didn't need mobility. He made the mistake of buying a new computer without asking me first (which I told him). And these days everybody is recommending laptops no matter what the system is actually going to be used for so he fell into the trap.
Starscream Wrote:"Way cheaper", how can you figure that? We both live close enough to each other to know that we can go to Metro PCS and get a cell phone with unlimited everything for about $30.00-$40.00 (including long distance).
I'm guessing you don't have a triple package deal from AT&T or comcast? They're like $20 a month for landlines if you buy it with cable TV and internet. Not to mention metro PCS is a terrible carrier and the good carriers cost a lot more (another conversation for another time).
Starscream Wrote:Businesses don't count
You've got to be kidding me. Why the hell not?
Starscream Wrote:The fact that a plasma TV is huge is not a downfall, that's the way we want it to be. You make it sound as if the nice big size of the screen is some kind of flaw it has. That totally doesn't even come close to being a valid argument in any way.
I was trying to point out how the evolution of technology in TVs, stereo amplifiers, antennas, or any of the other stuff you mentioned is in no way even remotely comparable to different computer form factors. Therefore it was a bad example to use.
Starscream Wrote:This is not the place to post giant unrelated pictures. Sure, this is a defino plaza topic, but it still has a topic. Surely you can find another more fitting thread in this section to post random pictures?
THEY'RE NOT RANDOM. They're called reaction images. They're only going to get more popular in the coming years when the mainstream posters (a.k.a. facebook) learn about them so you better start getting used to understanding them now.
