Friend of Sonic

I am a victim of a video card in this series. I have the 7690m XT for my laptop. It'll run Smash Bros fine (and I'll notice that the GPU usage drops tremendously which causes a hiccup, but luckily this only happens when a battle is loading)

But Sonic Colors on the other hand... the GPU core clock will drop from 725 to 300, which kills the frame rate down to a disgusting 5FPS. Before the drops occur, it seems steady around 25 FPS, which is certainly playable. I have the power settings set to push for max performance plugged in or not, and my temps are fine. I also tried downloading a custom set of drivers developed by Leshcat, and those may have helped slightly, but I'm still noticing the GPU dropping up and down. Is this normal, and if not, is there something I can do about that?
I don't know if this information can help, but I don't have any problem with the 7970M (Catalyst 12.8 WHQL - 7900 MOD).

Another set of drivers to try out? I'm stoked! Thanks man, I'm going to give these a whirl.

so the issue is solved?
Sorry for bumping this up somewhat, but I was wondering if any other people can confirm that newer drivers fixed these performance issues with the Radeon 7000 series.

I'm going to be upgrading the video card in one of my computers that has a low wattage PSU and i've read that the HD7750 might do well. I won't be replacing the PSU and it currently has a Radeon 4350 (came with it). Needless to say i'm using a horrible GPU that can't really handle anything past native resolutions (and I have come to suspect the card may be holding back performance even at native resolution).

I could buy a 5670 or a 6670, but from everything i've heard elsewhere the 7750 beats both cards handily while also using less wattage. So i'd assume the 7750 would be the best choice if the driver issues were worked out. Someone mentioned above that on Catalyst 12.8 that they've had no issues with performance. Can anyone else confirm that the 7000 series no longer has issues with D3D11 in Dolphin with the newer drivers?
Not sure if setting the power options plan to High Performance would make a difference or not. But try this tip: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-GPU-never-clocks-up
It doesn't. That much we already know.
Only one person has mentioned that working however and i'm not sure whether this is a all-fixing solution for everyone with 7000 cards and with all emulators and D3D backends. Natural Violence says it doesn't work, so the only other possible solution would be a driver update. Can anyone confirm whether newer drivers or any other solutions corrected these problems?

Actually i've seen scant few topics regarding the 7000 series here or on other emulation forums, seems like not many people have them.
Do you think that is just an driver issue?
Somebody tryed 12.9 Beta?
It IS just a driver issue. There is nothing else that could possibly cause this. Multiple users have stated that catalyst 12.8 fixes the issue.
