Sorry for the double post, but I wanted a clean one after my driver cleaning. Ok after some driver sweeping (and some computer trouble from it that I had to resolve), I got 13.1 back. It looks like the newest drivers have decreased the performance of DX9 mode slightly, while DX11 is either the same or slightly better than on previous drivers.

On the DKCR title screen mentioned in the first post, I'm getting anywhere from 54-57fps on DX11, with a couple of spikes up to 59fps or so (regardless of the resolution or anything). DX9 hovers around 57fps with more frequent spikes to 60fps than DX11 has. The performance seems closer between the two backends than it was using older version 12.xx AMD drivers. It could just be me though. It is important to note of course that in my case, i'm CPU limited with my AMD Athlon II processor. But I think these speed issues are related to the GPU and its drivers, because on version 12 drivers using the DX9 backend, I was hitting up to 60-62fps. If it were my CPU, I doubt I'd be getting better speed with different graphics drivers...

The Catalyst Control Center IS showing the card clocking up though in whatever situation I put it in, so I don't know what's going on.

Could you redo the test in an area or game that is less CPU bottlenecked? Its easier to measure fps differences in if the fps is in the 100s. New super mario bros is a good example.

I compared the NSMB Wii title screen. I'm not getting framerates in the hundreds, but i'm getting well over 60fps which is probably good enough for comparing some basic GPU related speeds. With DX9 I get about 83-84fps. With DX11 I get about 80-82fps. This regardless of whether I'm using 1x or 3x internal resolution.

I also tested Luigi's Mansion (which runs originally at 30fps btw). I tested this on a scene where you're in E Gadd's workshop talking to him (after the file selection menu). Speed between DX9 and DX11 is pretty even here. When I disable the speed limit, I get about 69-70fps regardless of which backend I use. At the beginning of the mansion however I get oddly fluctuating framerates. DX9 gives anywhere from 33fps with very frequent spikes up to 38fps. DX11 on the other hand hangs out consistently around 35-36fps. This mind you is just standing still, not much happening onscreen that I'd imagine would make the framerate change much. And again my speed doesn't change regardless of whether I run the game at 1x or 3x internal resolution.
nVidia is emulators' best friend.

NV drivers currently crash Dolphin when using per pixel depth.

GJ NVidia.

Only on Windows.
Interesting....I've never experienced that crash and I usually enable per-pixel depth in global settings.

Also saying "only in windows" is like saying "only in 98% of user systems".
Well im using a HD7850 @ standart clock speed and i never had problems with it in dolphin.

i can rise the IR up to maximum and i have constant 60FPS in the title screen of DKCR and (depending on the game) no slowdowns whatsoever in any other game i tested so far (New Super Mario Bros, Fragile Dreams, Mario Kart (Wii and GC), Fatal Frame 4 or Fatal Frame 2 Wii).

So i cant sign this in saying "AMD 7XXX series is bad for dolphin".
Thats not because i have a pretty good CPU, but when i had my old Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition with 3GHz, i could rise the IR up to maximum too and no change. In some games i had slowdowns, yea, but i had them with normal IR too, because my CPU was the bottleneck.
wondering if someone can test okami on R7 or previous builds and tell me if they expereince the same problem I am having. i cant get open GL to view okami properly. the display is identical to the 3.0 and up builds were there are black lines.yet on the main fourm page for okami it ses open gl should displays the game properly unlike dx9 and dx11 witch give wierd shadow like textures.
Not to bring this topic back but I am in need of a new card very soon and I was looking at a Radeon HD 7 series. So what was the conclusion to this. are the 7xxx series bad for Dolphin or is there not enough evidence that it just might be his PC and or settings in Dolphin? Smile

Btw, have anybody tested with the 12.10 drivers? Does it make the performance better?
I have the onboard of the Intel HD 3000+ it's 850mhz. Also looking to get a real card was looking at the 7xxx series as well but I'm on the fence now lol.
