I thought software issues would necessarily give me some error like BS, but not freeze the entire Os, I thought modern OSes didnt even let software afect that low level stuff needed to do something like that.
I try reinstalling it this weekend.
not really. i can produce an nvidia driver bug easily in XP. the result would be a freeze or a black screen.
the cause? xp drivers handle the vram horribly and my vram just gets overloaded. all hail vram leaks at driver level?
btw, i do fear its hardware. but could be software(drivers)
It will be very bad if it's hardware, cause I won't have away to know what is causing the problem, plus all the parts are 6 months old. I know it isnt the gpu, I could rempve each of the RAM sticks to see if they are faulty, but not anything related to the CPU or Mobo...
That is, if cleaning, reassembling and changing everything to a bigger case plus reinstalling the OS doesnt fix it.
For those who might want to know, I figured it out today. It turns out my HD was heating. I realized how littçe attention I gave to HDs temperature, while I cared about everything else.
My case is really to small for the gtx 560 and the two HDs, so I placed my Boot HD under the Dvd reader and removed two of the frontal plastic plates. It turns out that I really needed a ventilation on the front, cause it reqlly blows air hard from thee now, and the whole system got a lot cooler while on load. I had thought that making the two side fans blow air in and the back fans boowing out would equal the air flow, put it was really under some pressure there, seeking a way out.
Well, living and learning, I got a big hole on the front of my case, but at least now none of my pieces pass the recomended temps. But the only one that was really over heating was the hd, the PC would freeze when it reached 45C. The max temp for it is 40C but now it stays at 37 under load. I also found an old HD cooler I had and attacjed it to the boot HD. Didnt seem to make a difference in the max temp but it cools down faster.
Well thats it, now I can play with my new GTX560, finally

Well well what do you know HDD overheating, good job finding the real problem.
I know how you feel right now, so relived and happy that it wasn't something serious.
Yes, this is such a relief. I was almost getting depressive, with my now very limited free time being spent all on the internet.I started even reading old threads here, to pass the time. Now I finally have something to do, and Ill celebrate it by buying some eye candy on steam tis week. BF3 is on my list.
Im just guessing it was the HDD because altough the general system temps were high it was the only one really above the safe temps. And I tried playing crysis 2 in a window side by side with the temps monitor, it would always freeze when it reached 44 or 45C.
Just checking that you aren't expecting to find BF3 on steam. It's EA, so on origin.
