No i think you misread that, his explanation was for moving the gc save from your gc console to the wii console and resuming the gc game on the wii console, even if you imported the save to dolphin it'd still be a gc save

GC saves can be transferred back and forth using dolphins memcard manager and tools like ctr-gcs
Wii saves can be transferred back and forth using wii save import/export in dolphin and the wii system menu data management screen
but there are no tools that i am aware of that will convert a gc save to a wii save or viceversa
I did use a N64 save for the GC version of OOT, but I used an N46 emulator for both games so
