Are you talking about NaturalViolence or Eldray? >_>
NV. He keeps talking like he is somehow a part of the development team, we can't have people getting the wrong idea.
I guess I'll try to use "they" instead of "we" from now on? It certainly didn't seem to me like I was implying that when I wrote it. I guess I use "we" because this is an open-source community and anybody could fix it with a patch, whereas "they" makes it sound like there are only a few people that are allowed to patch it. I certainly didn't mean to imply that though.
No harm done, just keeping the forums honest. Someone was commenting on a patch they thought you created as well (post 36), so it needed to be corrected.
*NaturalViolence suddenly remembers how much it annoyed the devs that he used googlecodes built in editing feature to post that patch in the issues section.*
It's extremely convenient. It lets you edit the source code as your browsing it on googlecode without having the do a checkout. But it creates a new issue automatically with a patch file every time you make any change (I believe it ended up creating 6 issue reports, 2 files modified x 3 edits).
I can imagine that that would annoy the devs. I'd have thought that Google would have made it possible for someone to prevent that from happening, as they are generally very good at that. The only thing Google have failed at that I can remember is the launch of Google plus. If the minimum age was 16, or even 13, not 18 that would have made it more successful, and so would more advertising. I'm still adamant that it is better than facebook, but the whole point of a social network is to shout things at people, and if there are no people there then that makes it useless.
I'm surprised how quickly that got off topic.

Surely you remember Google Buzz. It was plagued with privacy issues and wasn't even around for 2 years. As a Google service, it pretty much tanked. Now, more on topic...

Gotta start somewhere. Dolphin is programmed with C++, Assembly, and uses the WxWidgets for GUI stuff. None of these is exactly beginner friendly, but you don't have to understand all of the code.
The great thing about having all the code hosted on Google is that you can easily search the trunk for functions and variables without having to go through too much trouble. If you want to change something small, a well-worded search will go a long ways to finding the code.
Once you start to hack, you never go back.

I've modified a handful of emulators specifically for my needs, so keep at it and you'll get better.

It turns out for me that's about twice as easy to do on an IDE. I simply right-click a function name, and click Go to Definition. If there are more than one, Visual Studio gives me a list of all the possible definitions. I recommend looking at the code on Googlecode for a bit, but checkout it and look at it in an IDE, its much easier.
