Wow thanks for this helpful answer! And I think I got them, made a ZIP with all text pictures I found (there were thousands of background pictures with the sword ^^). Also a Unicode textfile with all Umlauts and the "ß" (called sharp S, SZ or SS like you said), if that helps somehow. Because I think you can't type it with a English keyboard, or?

Seems like I can't attach anything here, so I uploaded it to mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?1257fpk5w96151f

I also managed to reassign the missing Buttons, because I could see them now with this Texture Dump. Made a "L1" Button too from the already existent "R1" button PNG, because my Wii "C" is on L1, my "Z" on R1. Here it is if anybody needs it: http://www.mediafire.com/?fmz29r4l87kfmyf or http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/259/sx4p01l1.png/

Greetings from Berlin!
So it looks to me like they put all international characters into one file, which is good for editing. If I can get the font that layberneth used, I can fix all international characters at once.

Unfortunately, they also translated everything under the sun, so that means that words in a separate file (like Optionen) will also need to be updated. Since I can't dump all of this for every possible language, if you want your language to be included, please dump as many of these words as you can. messiahgov, I will work on what you sent me as soon as I can get the font, in the meantime, you can dump more of these if you like and I will fix them as well.

OH GOD please let me know when the face textures are done. I mean I know that the Wii has limited graphic potential but seriously, I don't know what they were thinking when they made the faces at such low resolutions and all the while they will zoom right up on them during cut scenes.
Oh also, seeing as how the NA version just came out, do you have any plans on adapting this texture pack for it?
why, shouldn't this also work for the NTSC version?

IT's only formatted for SX4P01, the NA NTSC version is SX4E01. Although I am unsure if simply renaming all of the imagenames would work or not.
If these high res packs work like those in N64 emu times, just renaming them should be enough.
Yes, renaming the files will work.

Artificiary

I can also confirm that renaming the files works. I was able to rename all the files using a utility called "Name it Your Way" and see all the new textures reflected in my NTSC version of the game.

Kudos for the work you've done so far BTW. I cannot wait to see your future updates.
@slmpika
Thanks for your kind offer! I gladly accept it. =) It took a while to figure out the font, but it is the "Myriad Pro" Family, I'm 99.9% sure. I also managed to archive/dump some more text files (PNGs), but it seems, if you change the language, even the equal text PNGs (English & German) get another filename at each language. First I thought all the PNGs (just not the buttons) are working in the German version. But I must say, nope they didn't worked at all, I had to rename almost all (even grass and bush textures).

Many text PNGs are already in the released package from post #1 in this thread, but I couldn't find the file "SX4P01_82f43be6_2.png" [= p s t x] in the German version, as an example. So I renamed some of those PNGs with many letters in one file, to get them work in German, because they are 1:1 the same, in better quality. I left some other English words PNGs out - makes no sense to rename them, would result in German to English texts. The good thing is, I found some of them in German! I checked all menus and made some fights. Some text PNGs I couldn't get are "Level Up", "Skill Learnt!", "MAX" etc.

So here are the files.

More complete, but still incomplete German text Dump: http://www.mediafire.com/?w5lucecucm41hbf (Updated v2, now with Levelanstieg, Neue Technik, Neues Talent & Harmoniemünze - i was lucky ^^)
Would be nice, if anybody who is more at the end of the game, could dump some missing German PNGs. I'm at the very beginning with one dude (girl died) on the next big field. I don't want to use a endgame savegame or something like that. =)

Maybe some find it useful for themself, my German "Renamed" Package - Incomplete!: http://www.mediafire.com/?kz43iufv80d257j
Caution, there are also all my button configuration files included, which will most likely don't fit for anyone else but me. Delete them if needed! In total it's the main Retexture package + the PS3 buttons (+ my L1 button), just renamed for PAL German and my controller configuration, which looks like that:

With that, everyone could rename them to the desired button configuration or even get to know which name it uses. Just copy them as known and they should work if you check "Load Custom Textures".

If it matters, I use the 30 FPS patched version. I got a bit asleep with 25 FPS. This reminds me of a long forgotten time. The very first Metal Gear Solid on PSX. Big Grin I firstly played the NTSC version (which came out some month before PAL) a long time on a friends PSX. Later I got the PAL demo from a magazine and from the beginning on I was on my search for the running button, but a bit later I found out, I already was running. It just was a crappy PAL version as we know it, everywhere slower than NTSC. That's why I like to play NTSC games if I can. Even if PAL games are now a bit better with some tricks. ^^

Greetings!
I was able to find all the fonts I need, so I'll be working on the text soon.

As for the different textures for each language, it has to do with the fact that the filename of the texture is a hash of the location of the texture in the .iso (I think?). Since the German text is loaded from a different location, it will have a different hash.

The problem is that sometimes a texture will be repeated in many locations, and the location it is loaded from depends on certain factors. The reason for this is not clear to me, but I believe it is a combination of lazy development and organizational purposes. This is especially noticeable with character portraits and certain UI elements. The fact that you had to rename the grass and bush textures is most likely because you dumped them while in a different area, as I don't think that the language setting causes these to load from a different location. Every dump helps, though, since we are able to find more of these duplicates.
