Actually I'm not quite sure about that, once the libs are loaded into memory it shouldn't cause much of a performance hit.

@Gabriel Belmont if you don't want to use linux that's just fine, but please stop spreading FUD about it. Dolphin runs nicely on linux.

and im not shutting down the computer either. adding a repo and using sudo apt-get install automatically installs the required dependencies

Interesting. Are you putting your computer in hibernation/standby to avoid turning it off? If you did turn it off, I guess you'd have to go through the whole process of downloading and installing from the repo?
