why is EFB to RAM still default -_-
Hi,

I'm new here too (just discovered Dolphin some hours ago) and I am experiencing similar problems.

I've tested it on build 4771 and now I've upgraded to 5067 (both x64)

Whenever I play Double Dash, I have full framerate in the game menu and before the race starts, with varying "dolphin.exe" CPU usages up to 51% (just as expected on a Quadcore if 2 CPUs are used).
But the in-race framerate drops to a constant 78-80% (I'd even say it's slower from looking at the in-game timer, maybe 50%?). At the same time my CPU usage drops to almost constant 32%, no matter if I play in native resolution or at 1024x768 with 4x anisotropic and 4x antialiasing, the results are exactly the same, so this appears to me as some kind of framerate limitation rather by the emulator than by my machine.

A strange thing I've noticed is that if I savestate in the middle of the race, stop and restart emulation, and load the state, I have full framerate but for just around 2 seconds before it drops to 78-80% again.

Unfortunately, enabling the "EFB to RAM" setting didn't help anything.

I also upgraded to the newest DirectX and C++ releases, but still no success.

Any other things I could try?

My system:
- Intel Q9300, 4*2.5GHz
- 8GB RAM
- Windows NT 6.1 (aka "7") x64 Home Premium
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 (I don't know how much RAM exactly, dxdiag says 1004MB, Nvidia Conrol Panel says 1536MB dedicated)

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I also tried with manually setting the frame limit to 60 fps and disabling Audio throttle, as well as using JitIL recompiler, but still no improvement Undecided
try setting the framelimit to off.
and disable other audio.
First of all, thanks for the quick reply!
I disabled the framerate completely now, and now it's around 150% (45 fps/90 VPS) for the first few seconds, but as soon as I drive into question blocks/over a goal line/over an "accelarator" the framerate drops to 24 again (actually I looked at VPS first in my upper post, which is 48, making the game speed 78-80%). And it will stay so low until I save/restart/load, that's strange. Maybe these question blocks etc. "trigger" something that slows down the speed (?) but it doesn't reset the slowdown after you're finished driving over them? I'm not into programming so I can't tell...
But what do you mean with "disable other audio"? I have no sounds from other applications running, or is there an option called like that, if yes, where?
EDIT: Disabling the sound completely has no effect, the framerate still drops after driving over the mentioned things.
Hi,
I use r5146 32bit. Why are some soundeffects very silent? Some Souneffects have normal volume some don't.
Using R5286 by Spellforce...

The game looks and runs great, but the music stops playing at some point and doesn't come back, is there a way to fix this?

Thanks Smile
yeah, thats a very old issue.....
don't think its fixed yet....

Because the "to texture" option doesn't work correctly when dynamic updates occur post the copy to the EFB.

since you have a quad core, try in task manager -> processes and set affinity on dolphin, and mark only 2 cpu's (try diferent variations, marking some/unmarking may increase or decrease in speed) this way i got it to work from 50-54 fps to 56-60, most of the time att 58 and 60. oh and im using latest build dolphin 2.0
