Is this the processor you are talking about? Cause I think I'd go for something more powerful if I were to upgrade... again =s
But along these lines right?
Edit: I'm sorry to sound like to total utter noob but I am... lol! I didn't understand what what duo core was until a min ago... 2cores/4threats, got it now. Could you guys recommend a good enough processor for Dolphin or is the one in the picture good enough?
Yeah, that's the CPU admin89 was talking about. It's pretty good, especially for its price and Dolphin performance. If you don't plan on playing particularly demanding games (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Metroid Trilogy, F-Zero GX, etc) then it should suit your needs.
One thing to keep in mind is LLE audio. Some games require you to set your DSP (deals with sound processing) to LLE (low-level emulation). The default is HLE (high-level emulation) which is fast and runs good on most games. Some games have audio issues, so LLE is needed instead of HLE. The thing is, LLE is pretty demanding, but Dolphin can use a third core to run it. If you need to run games that require LLE (Tales of Symphonia is one, some parts of Super Mario Galaxy need it too), you should look into getting a CPU with 4 cores. If not, then stick with the i3-2100.
But, since you want something more powerful for your upgrade, many people recommend the i5-2500K. You can overclock it easily to reach higher clock rates, and it's good for using LLE audio too. It'll run a lot of games (though not all of them) at full-speed should you decide to OC it. The thing is, you'll have to keep the chip cool, so be sure to invest in an aftermarket cooler if you do get the 2500K.
I see.
Admin 89 said my mobo is duo core compatible, does that mean any duo core processor i3 and i5 or does it have to be an older type processor to match my older mobo?
Btw thanks again for all the help guys, I really appreciate it
Edit: Okay I told you I'm a noob haha! Anyways a guy named Dan just told me core2duo is not the same as i3 or i5, I get that now. Unfortunitly I can't find core2duo products on the Intel website. Also Admin89 said the best one I could get is E7500 but theres also a E8500 out am I not compatible?
Maybe I should just get that Z68 mobo and go with a i3 2100... well I've been up for over 22 hours I must sleep before I collapse, bye for now

Like admin89 said, your motherboard should support an E5800, which uses the LGA775 socket. The i3-2100 and i5-2500K I talked about use a newer, different socket, so you'll need a new motherboard. Google around for "z68 chipset" to find a suitable motherboard.
Don't worry about being a noob.

Everyone's gotta be one some time or another. We're all here to help anyway.

Look at the price.....
250$ for the outdated 45nm chipset and it's only a little faster than e7500 . Hell no
I will never pay more than 80$ for them
Pentium Sandy Bridge G860/G850 is i3 2100 without Hyper Threading.Therefore :
Pentium G850 32nm @ 2.9Ghz 2 core 2 thread
Pentium G860 32nm@ 3.0Ghz 2 core 2 thread
Core i3 2100 32nm @ 3.1Ghz 2 core 4 thread
Pentium G850 is much faster than E8600 .
New Z68 mobo +
Pentium G850 should be the best deal for dolphin (216$) . Don't forget to buy
thermal compound as well , you must apply it on the CPU chipset (between CPU and Fansink)
Okay It's settled then! I'll get the Z68 mobo you've shown me (which has great reviews and fairs well in comparision to the more expensive one) and the i3 2100 or i5 2500k processor.
Though I'm worried now my DDR2 RAM chips won't work with it. Also my graphic card though maybe I'm just being paranoid...

It says 65nm and the processors are 32nm, my currect processor says 65nm... are they ment to be the same, is it something to do with mobo compatibility or is it totally unrelated with eachother?
Edit: I just want everything to be perfect... I don't have alot of money atm, but I could get the said mobo and processor.

DDR2 WILL NOT WORK, but the GFX card will

Or
Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz (32$)
Ahhh! Thankfully they are so cheap
One last question... I think, about Newegg. Does it matter where I buy the mobo, processor and ram chips from? I live in the UK and Newegg seems to be a US company. I'd rather buy from them cause they seem to be alot cheaper then say... Amazon

. I'm just wondering if they are the same as the ones I'd buy in the UK, is it all universal or like PAL/NTSC?
Thanks again for the help you guys are
