Some things have gotten better since the NES days, thank god that I don't have to blow in a NES cartridge 40 minutes just for the stupid game to boot, yet I appreciate how simple everything was back then.

Things were better, just put in a cartridge and start playing in no time.
For a PS3 game today it's first update firmware if needed, then install game data to the HDD, game starts to loading loading, cut scenes cut scenes all over the place, blah blah blah and then finally you can start to play when you're pissed off.

After a while you start to appreciate all the good things that have gone by and suddenly you'll find yourself hooked up with the good old SNES, N64 or something.
Just wait until we use quantum mechanics instead of physics engines.

What's Quantum mechanics anyway? Hmm Quantum, makes me think of Nuka Cola Quantum from Fallout 3

That post......so many wtf moments just happened inside my head all at once.

1. What do you means by "physics engines"?
2. I hope for the love of god that you realize that quantum mechanics is a branch of physics
I bet Schroedinger could've emulated the PS3 just fine. Just a thought.
Uh, wasn't him a physicist?
Yeah, but we were also talking about quantum mechanics replacing physics engines ... in a ps3 emulation thread lol Tongue

Imagine, though, 20 years from now. Young adolescents will lament how "easy" it was to get their ancient PS3s and Wiis to work. Firmware updates might seem like a pain now, but they might be less convoluted than what they might develop in the future. Seems weird to think that anything we consider "advanced" now will seem primitive later on, even within our own lifetimes.

Still, I kinda liked having to blow on my NES cartridges...

He'd probably need a couple of cats to do that.

I guess that's how it's gonna be too and I can imagine my nieces saying something similar what I've just said 20 years from now.

About the blowing on the NES cartridges, did it actually work for any of you guys or was it all just psychologically?

I guess people did it to get dust out but for me it was more of a habit, my friends and brothers seem to always do it before inserting the cartridge so i was what the hell, might as well get into the fray, i doubt it would make much difference blowing it or not cause even today before i insert a cd into my ps3 i clean it with my shirt, always, i think i just do it subconsciously really
