Yeah but still this is a thread in the off-topic section and it's not like the posts we make here is useless, were actually talking and discussing about important matters.
Agreed, plus this came from a talk about Pss3 emulation which is in the thread title Big Grin so I guess like Gabriel said it's relevant.
Not complaining, just noting how the tone got nostalgic all of sudden. Big Grin
It's easier to get nostalgic when you get older, even the simplest things can trigger it.
No doubt, as you get older, you get more memories, thus there's a larger pool of things to get nostalgic about. I've got a pretty strong memory; I can remember specific events from when I was less than a year old. I'm far from what I'd consider old (my dad on the other hand...) but it's not hard for me to get nostalgic at all, even at 23. I guess it helps that I've experienced a lot of significant things too.
Yeah that's true, I'm 26 and can only remember stuff from when I was 3 years and forward.
It's kinda strong though remembering specific events from being less then a year old, man you got some memory alright.
26???!!! C'mon Gabriel, don't be so negative. I'm 35 and some games really thrilled me lately, especially Sonic Generations because nostalgic people like me really appreciate the retro style. Also Skyward Sword which I'm still playing (with my kids lol).
I'm sorry but I can't help it, it's just the way I am.
But I admit that there is plenty of good games to be released this year and one or two might thrill me a little, RE6 and RE Operation Raccoon City especially.
From my perspective as a 16 year old, I see nostalgia for old consoles as something that should be surplus. I really think that backwards compatibility should be a main focus of new consoles, so that you have no reason not to upgrade. It would also make you stick to one manufacturer for several generations.

I do feel that old games can be as entertaining as new ones, but I expected HALO Anniversary Edition to be an epic remake which would make an old game more desirable. In actual fact, I enjoy it less than the original, partially because I already know the full plot, but mainly because I expect more from a newer game. I see this as proof that an old game will usually have less expected from it, so will seem at least as good as it is far more likely to exceed expectations.

But I know that I have a limited perspective, because I never played old games that people would actually have paid for, and don't really have gaming hard wired into me as I was 10 before I got to use anything other than an outdated, underpowered PC.

Virtual Console?

Also, I'm 18 and already nostalgic, I must heva some problem. Point is the 90s seem so much cooler than today, I wish I was this old back then.
