There was an entire thread a while back about overclocking your CPU. NaturalViolence posted a really thorough guide about it too. There are a lot of factors to consider, chief in my eye are temps and overall stability. Overclocking has been common for years, and it's not a dark art anymore as some might have perceived it. In more than a handful of occasions, some computers simply won't reach fullspeed in Dolphin without it, no matter what settings you try.

Also, as Scarface7 said, some older builds "work" better for some people. Some games might play better, but they also might be affected by bugs that have since been fixed in newer versions.

Thank you, I didn't know there was a forum guide on how to maually overclock your cpu. I was using a software to softoverclock it. I hope I can overclock my cpu a little more. Only games that I want to run is, Metroid Series, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes and Turok. After that I am so good to go!

You've got a laptop right? Most people don't OC a laptop because it can get pretty hot pretty fast. I think DefenderX mentioned a one such situation yesterday:

Dunno whether or not to believe him that it's not a problem. Also, if your BIOS don't permit you to OC, there's not much you can do about it, so just be aware of that too.

Oh wow! And here I was about to overclock it later tonight! Oh well, Im just short on a few games I can't play on my laptop. Im going to buy a software to see if it fixes and boostes some of my games performace. But at the moment I can play all my Resident Evil games! WIPEE! Big Grin
and also whats a good frame rate to aim for dont wanna over overclock lol thnx
o and thanks for all the infoo really helped out
That really depends on the game and what you find acceptable. For my desktop, I'm only really ever satisfied if I get near full-speed. For the laptop I'm posting on, 25~30 FPS is good enough if it can even manage that. Half-speed is fine for Time Splitters 2 and Sonic Adventure 2, at least for me it is. But like I said, it depends on what game you're playing. Even at half-speed, SSBM is slow, and winning matches against CPU players feels like I'm cheating. Some games only run at 30 FPS anyway, so half-speed really doesn't cut it there. It's up to you to decide what's "good enough" for whatever hardware you have,
