I have heard that there is a plugin available that improves dolphins graphics significantly over the standard Wii ones. Can someone please tell me what it is? And possible any other recommended plugins.

Well, this plugin must be included, i think. Dolphin is able to run Wii games at 720p and 1080p, without any additional plugins etc. and as far as i know, the Wii can only run games at 480p.
I think, you mean the option "Internal Resolution". 1x is native (the wii's standard?) and all above is better.

Dolphin only has 4 video plugins and all of them are included by default, d3d9, d3d11, openGL, and software renderer. All of these can substantially improve the image quality of your games versus an actual wii.
