im having many problems with epsxe. please someone help me.
1) when i turn off epsxe, it keeps running for some reason and i have to turn it off by turning on the task manager. epsxe doesnt show up on the toolbar. its running in the background even though it was told to turn off.
2) whenever i turn on a game, the toolbar disappears, so im wondering how the hell am i supposed to change discs as well as other things if it keeps disappearing when i turn on a game. (im trying to play lunar 2 { 3 discs})

If anyone knows any solutions please tell me. im using epsxe 1.7.0 for windows 32 bit.
ive been reading that you have to install it? then how am i running it in the first place??
any suggestions?
Im using windows 7 on a dell inspirion N5110 with GT 525M if it helps
1. Don't close ePSXe with the X on top of the right corner, to get in the ePSXe menu press ESC and quit the emulator that way.
Rule of thumb, always use the menus to close emulators properly otherwise they may still be running in the background.

2. The tool bar is supposed to disappear when you start emulation/a game, just press ESC on the keyboard and you get the menus back where you can change discs.
This is the off-topic section and you're free to post whatever you like, but you'll probably get better results posting at the epsxe forums.

This happened to me before, I had to of opened it 10 times and it just keeped getting slower, then I opened task manager "ohhhhhhhhhhh", afterwards I figured out how to turn it off the right way Big Grin
For those who is new to ePSXe it can be tricky to shut down the emu properly, believe me back in the days all these years ago when I started using ePSXe I did the same mistake.
Once you get to know the emu and the menus, PSX emulation is quite an easy experience, although in my personal opinion I thought that it was easier changing discs in the 1.6 version.

For games like Lunar 1 & 2 and ePSXe 1.7 I just used Daemon Tools with a virtual drive, it's the only working way that I know of changing discs properly with 1.7
oh man thanks gabriel! a freaking load of help!
i beat lunar on the PSP and i just HAD to play the sequel. you did me a really huge solid man lol. and i understand that i should get 1.6 version because its easier to switch discs?
You'd better use 1.5.2 to change disc. For a maximal compatibility you should have these three versions ready to use : 1.5.2/1.6/1.7 and eventually use pSX (another PSX emulator)

No problem at all Solarsonic.

And as LordVador said, having the 1.5.2 and 1.6 versions next to the 1.7 is a good idea depending on which games you want to play.

An example of this is sadly Resident Evil 3 which boots when it want to with 1.7 but boots instantly on 1.6
And games like Doom and Final Doom needs to be mounted with Daemon Tools to even work properly on 1.7

As for the pSX emulator I know very little about it or any other PSX emu for that matter.
I'm an ePSXe follower to the end.

Well well I might just change my mind about that statement.
After browsing through this thread on ngemu called "ePSXe 1.8.0 When?" ( http://forums.ngemu.com/showthread.php?t=140207 ) I have found out about an newcomer to the PSX emulation scene that people claim to be really good.

It's called XEBRA / ARBEX which is created by an Japanese author called Dr.Hell and he claims the emu is almost 100% accurate to PSX

http://drhell.web.fc2.com/ps1/index.html

This totally reminds me of the time I found out about the perfect Sega Saturn emulator SSF that plays Akumajo Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku godly. SSF also have an Japanese author and the perfect PC-Engine emulator called Ootake that plays Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo godly.

I'm really really excited to try this XEBRA emulator out, ePSXe is really good but haven't had a solid release in nearly 4 years Undecided

I'll post here once I tried it out, it might be even better then ePSXe who knows.
