"Ok, you've probably seen/heard PIPA and I assume that you saw the Google homepage yesterday, so I'm going to get right to the point - PIPA, and its even worse House-cousin SOPA, will not stop piracy, will hurt the track record of innovation in the past 15 years, will stifle job creation and the economy's recovery. I also have some evidence to point this out.
According to Wikipedia and its sources, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PROTECT_IP_Act), the editor of this Wikipedia article states that "A legal analysis by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) notes concerns by opponents such as American Express and Google that the inclusion of a private cause of action would result in stifled Internet innovation, protect outdated business models and at the cost of an overwhelming number of suits from content producers" Also, this glaring problem of sorts isn't just noticed by lawyers and people who work in the technology industry, even regular people are noticing this (http://www.webpronews.com/sopa-ignores-one-simple-truth-about-piracy-2012-01). Heck, even my parents notice this!
I know you support PIPA and possibly SOPA too, and I understand why you made that decision. Piracy is a very real and damaging crime, and I hope that there is at least one piece of legislation that comes through to stop online piracy. But however, it is clear I do not support PIPA and SOPA because it will inevitably hurt the economy (and the government's credibility) in the long run. I don't mind if you don't pull your support for PIPA, just keep this thought in the back of your mind please. Smile"

My letter to Sen. Barbara Boxer, one of the co-sponsors of PIPA, SOPA's sister bill

Did I do better? ?_?

I've just seen that. Incredible thing. If Megaupload has vanished I guess a lot of other ones will. Anyone knows if other sites fell down?
Gweat, i've used MU sometimes for perfectly legal things like sharing raw file from my camera, when i'm in the middle of nowhere behind NAT (FTP server or torrent isn't an option in this case). And if it was something strictly legal, it was about old games which are impossible to buy in stores anymore.

Those greedy bastards and their fed lap dogs don't have a logic. They think like "Bad guy can use railroad to escape, let's remove the rails. He can use airplane ? Shoot it down, who cares about 350 stupid passengers. Oh wait, he's already got to that city? Where's our nuke?"

has america
ever
EVER

thought differently then in those lines and using that logic?

yeeeeeee....
Can't say I like the take down. So what about legit user's files? Will they be returned? Will subscriptions get refunded by the US? So any file hosting service must now be considered unreliable?
Unless the compensation/return of files finds place, the answer is yes...

Btw, I wouldn't exactly call it a conspiracy. I would call it "an obvious intent of profiting from whatever files people like to distribute." Infringing content is EVERYWHERE, it's not a secret....

Anyway, I host whatever files I needed web-transferred on mediafire, at least it was the shittiest site was taken...
so wait..is it true that the voting for sopa is on monday 24th??if it passes bye bye youtube(facebook, twitter, everything else Sad

yes

and it wont be goodbye untill a copyrighted holding company says it should. keep in mind the laws in their current forms make it so sites who have copyrighted content can be closed off from others (not dns blocked, they removed that) from other companies. what this means the law makes it impossible for those sites to earn money from donations or do whatever buisness with others.
Looks like they're holding off on the Tuesday vote. Both bills have been delayed. The keyword here is "postponed". They're still there, just not up for voting. Better, but we need to see that these bills are dead.
