In order to prevent noise and crackling audio, I've read that I need to either use the LLE DSP or switch to Xaudio2 with HLE DSP. Problem is, Xaudio2 crashes Dolphin when enabled.
The Game I am in is Paper Mario 2.
Anything within [ ] is a button press.
Here are the dialogues as they appear during crash:

XAudio2 init failed: 0X80040154 [OK]

Could not initialize backend XAudio2 [OK]

Sound backend XAudio2 is not valid [OK]

Error starting up sound stream [OK]

Then, when the game starts, it runs up to the first sounds, then Dolphin crashes completely. Any idea how to fix?
What OS are you using?
It takes getting used to, but he put it in his profile: Win7 64bits Home-Premium. Tongue

Install DirectX, even if you already did.
Download from Microsoft

Thanks much. Problem solved.

Quick question: Will running XAudio2 reduce crackling in other games too? I haven't tried any others yet.
Yes. Resident Evil Series for example
