Depends on game - RS2 is the slowest GC game on Dolphin, F-Zero GX runs 100% full speed for me on hybrid build with older code before change that broke DC with OpenGL completely.
TimeSplitters:FP, well intro movies are slow and sound really ugly, game itself not too fast but playable, 70-100% speed.

To second what Starscream said Call of Duty (the first one, number two doesn't work on Dolphin) is one of the slowest GC games. Splinter Cell games may be slow. MOH games too but not so much. And Metroid Prime(s) of course

I'm open to all suggestions really. I'd like to keep the rig as close to $500 as possible, but if I don't have to spend that much I wouldn't complain

It's my understanding that if I want to play Wii then the rig will have to be more than that, but with GC I could get away with less. I'm still torn between the i3/i5 and wondering if the $100 difference is justified by the games that will need it. So far the only one mentioned that I already have is Star Fox. Would an i5 handle this game without issue or would there still be slowdowns anyways?

I would wait for ivy bridge if I were you which should be coming out sometime in march/april. Or if you don't want to wait then go for the i5 if you can, especially if you plan on running pcsx2.

Quote:Metroid Prime(s)Hmm, got through more than a half of MP2, constant 100% speed and only a minor slowdowns with scan visor, doesn't look like one of the slower GC games, like TimeSplitters:FP, which is fully playable but runs mostly at 65% speed.
MP3 yeah, a bit slow, but thats a Wii game.

Yes but some parts may be slow (in the three games). For TimeSplitters I agree (due to MMU)

I will be running PCSX2, so I'll probably end up getting the i5 at the least. When you recommend waiting for the ivy bridge, are you meaning that I should get the ivy bridge, or that I should wait till it comes out so I can get the current i5 for cheaper?

He means to wait for it if you can afford it since it will run games faster.
