So A link to the past is supposed to be the beginning ?
If I had time ,i would try to play them again in the timeline given , to see if it's obvious ,but idont think so ...^^
Thread on 2ch from people who own the book confirmed this to be true.
There's a video here showing the timeline on the actual book. So yeah, it's true! And I personally love it. We just don't know yet how in the hell Link died/failed and created a third split that leads to Link to the past, thus we need better translations as of now.
Really interesting. I've played all these games and I've always been disappointed because of this confusing "timeline". For example when you play "A Link to the Past" or "Ocarina of Time" you got the feeling to start everything again as if there had never been any other episodes before. Really very interesting. The question is : why have they waited so long to explain that? Was it premeditated? not sure

Aonuma was working on this for quite a while now. Maybe he didn't want to reveal it until all the gaps were filled, with the launch of Skyward Sword everything makes perfect sense now.
Think about it: Link to the past, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are happening paralel to each other (Miyamoto confirmed TP and WW to be paralel, so LttP probably is too). That means: The Master Sword was being pulled at the same time by these 3 Links on different timelines. How awesome is that?
Absolutely. It gives another "sight" on Zelda games and Zelda story in general. I'm really amazed and impressed. Now the most interesting could be future games : where will they take place in this chronology? Another parallel story?

ofc it was the first one?
seeing the game and how it started that makes perfect sense. that and the whole story was a good beginning of everything.
...also, the official timeline makes perfect sense and is infact obvious

The official timeline puts ALLTP at the 4th game in the hero of time defeated branch. Your post is contradictory.
I haven't played much zelda, so I guess I should play them in order now

I encourage you to and first ones are not the worst (even if they could look outdated)
