I just wonder ... PCSX2 now supports 4 Cores, so maybe DOLPHIN can do the same ... no Huh
http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/489421-cpu-pcsx2-emulator-45.html
"PCSX2 can now make use of Quad Cores but the update has not made it to an official build yet, it is still in the Beta phase and available in the SVN's. The speed increase from enabling multicore is very significant in most cases."
cottonvibes - pcsx2: Implemented Threaded VU1
"Threading VU1 took a lot of rewrites and new code to make possible (MTGS, microVU, gifUnit...), but we finally got to the point where it was feasible, and now we've done it! (so now everyone can stop complaining that pcsx2 only takes advantages of 2 cores). The speedups in the games that benefit from it are great if you have a cpu with 3+ cores (generally a 10~45% speedup)"

Off-topic:

That's great news regarding PCSX2, haven't been there since the sound plugin SPU2-X 2.0 was released in June.
The latest 0.9.8 release was a great improvement from the old 0.9.6 release.

Too bad with cottonvibes retirement though, but they will manage just fine.

0.9.8 works very fine and I'm curious to see what it's gonna give with 4 cores Big Grin

Yeah their next release is something to really look forward too.

that could be the moment where iam backuping all my ps2 games :>
oh wait...
my rig is fast enough...

Ha ha yes PCSX2 is pretty fast today as it is on our rigs. But deep down you're always curious about new stuff.

Really Huh I hope you mean a decade between the release of a console and its emulator, no ?
Or do we still have to wait 10 years from now before having a functionnal Xbox360 PS3 emulator in 2021 Confused
(i don't even dare to think about 2031)

PS1 was released in 1995. Bleem and ePSXe emulators appeared in 2000-01. ePSXe v1.60 in 2003
PS2 and Gamecube were released in  2000-01. The emulators are now in 2011 (nearly fully) functionnal.
Xbox 360 and PS3 were released in 2005-06. Hoping to have a functionnal emulator around 10 years later, in 2015-16, no ??
Or who knows ... maybe in 2012, Windows 8 will emulate the xbox 360 Rolleyes (or Windows 9 in 2015)
did you know how much difference between ps2 and ps3 is?
the ps2 is running with 300mhz ö_Ö
and is now hardly emulated...
the ps3 is running with????
answer youself

It's NEVER fast enough Big Grin

Yes and that might help some games to work better

PS3 : 3.2 GHz Cell with 1 PPE & 7 SPEs
@dannzen: When do you estimate a functional xbox 360 ps3 emulation ?

A functional that just works is just a matter of time probably.
One that is playable though?
Maybe never Cool. I doubt it will be possible with processors made from silicon, if some exotic solution changes computing though who knows... Silicon will approach it's limits relatively soon.

hey there is an debug tool for ps3 Big Grin
which is basically seen the start of an emulator Wink
just try and follow the project a few years wahahah *evil laugh*
