I too flip the switch on the side of my beige box when I'm finished with DOS.
We're not old fashioned, we're just old.
Seriously though, it's a good idea to at least restart your computers now and then to clear the temporary files.

Why not hold the Wiimote's power button instead?
Heres a soloution i found (better late then never)
I went into my BT devices, clicked my way to the drivers and uninstalled them, then i removed the Wiimote for the devices list.
After doing this, the Wiimote paired up in seconds with no problems
To make it a bit more clear.
Right click Wiimote>Properties>Hardware>Bluetooth HID Device>Properties>Driver>Uninstall
After doing this, go back to your Bluetooth Devices, right click>Remove device
And then try pair up the Wiimote again
Note: I did this the day after i powerd off my Wiimote using the power button, and i also shut down my pc for the night.

Ive been using the method i posted above a few times now, havent had a single connection problem ever since.
Hi all,
I have the same troubles. I'm lazy and do not turn off the computer. But if you close dolphin and power down the wiimotes (any which way), then then when you restart dolphin and turn on the wiimote they do not pair up. Windows starts to reinstall new drivers even though the existing drivers are there. Seems confused. In the end the only solution is to uninstall the bluetooth wiimote driver, re-add the driver in windows, then open dolphin and it pairs up... I wish it were simpler
Hard to explain to the kiddies.
BTW I also have a bluetooth mouse. It has an on/off switch too. Sucks batteries like crazy! So I ALWAYS use the switch! Never ever had these types of problems and I've had the mouse for at least a year.

In case anyone is still wondering - for those who don't turn off their computers after playing (and it's not just a case of leaving it on all the time - sometimes I play for an hour, then browse the web for an hour, maybe listen to some music ... that's a few hours of wasted battery right there)
Pressing and holding the power button on the wiimote for a few seconds turns it off.
Don't know about the other problem, mine installs drivers every time I reconnect the wiimote. Only takes 3 second, though, so I guess it's no big deal.
