Yes, yes it is , remember your CPU will only have about 25% load due to the fact dolphin will only use 2 cores out of 8.
Also dolphin isn't very GPU heavy so that is normal.

The vast majority, but not Adobe After Effects (which I use quite a bit). 8 frames at a time vs. 4 frames at a time. The i7 would have to be twice as fast at rendering a frame just to keep up.

Yeah I don't know where the OP is getting that info. from. Tomshardware shows the FX-8150 losing to both a 2500K and 1100T (both of which cost less, consume less power, and run cooler) in after effects:


An FX-8120 should be about 10-15% slower than an FX-8150

So what you're all saying is, these are the speeds I should be getting? I mean, are there things I should do to get better speeds? I just want to know what I can do to get better speeds with my processor, not a lecture on what processor is better... I've heard it before and honestly I'm extremely happy with this processor. It runs great and I get a 7.6 WEI score. And that's limited by my SSD, my processor, ram, graphics all rank 7.9. Is there a way though that I can make Dolphin use more cores, or otherwise make Windows distribute the load more evenly or something?

Your processor is a bad choice for dolphin (and not only) compared to what else is there in the market. I suggest you sooner than later to deal with it.
Nevertheless there are some settings that can help you maximize your performance in Dolphin. DX9 is the fastest backend of the three if you want speed btw so use that. And post your graphic settings so that people can help you.

He means making two cores work as one so dolphin uses them both "without knowing".

And no that's not possible, in fact the idea is pretty absurd.

In other words having two cores processing the same thread simultaneously?
