Indeed, from my understanding, sound input can be used for emulation of the Gamecube Microphone, which in turn would be used in Gamecube games.
However, from my understanding, the Wii uses USB microphones, which in turn aren't yet supported by the official Dolphin builds (i.e. a Wii singing game).
From what I have read so far, some people were asking about USB microphone support, for Wii games, like in this thread

In another thread someone replied that there is some development, but it's not finished so far.
Perhaps in the near future there could be (partial) USB microphone support for Wii games, which would be neat.

Yes, I think it's in the works. If you know C++ and comment your code well, then you could probably help make it sooner (the benefit of being open source is that occasionally someone wants a feature so much they'll just add /finish it).

That would indeed be very nice,
however I never got the hang of coding (am really bad at maths), so much that I had to stop the specified course for that.
All the more reason to be thankful for those, willing to put so much time and effort in their cause.
For that I am thankful.
