C. Prevents them from seeing that the history of video game movie adaptations greatly improves the chances that it will suck.
D. Prevents them from understanding that a movie of this caliber would require a huge budget in order to have even the slightest chance of being good, which it won't because major studios won't dish out that kind of cash to something this risky.
E. Prevents them from understanding that making a decent movie plot would usually require a huge rewrite of the original which would ultimately leave the fans unsatisfied.

I was going to reply with something similar to this until I saw it. Tongue
But then there are exceptions there, like Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Prince of Persia. I think the main point is that the movie must be made with the vigilant eye and permanently by the side of the game creator, and things should be only done with his approval.

But then again, I think that yes a Zelda game would suck badly, even in that trailer (that in that year's april fool "fooled" me btw) that is made to look awesome Link looks like some wnna be of a dwarf with the green tunic ^^

Yeah there are a bunch but the great majority of them is a big pile of crap. The Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat ones are examples. And others like Final Fantasy that aren't that bad but still boring imo. And also Dragon Ball Evolution that was a big production but still, meh.

Yes that's true Resident Evil (the first one) and Prince of Persia were good movies (not excellent though). For Tomb Raider the main character must have kept me from seeing the interest of the movie Big Grin
They could make 100 Resident Evil movies and I would never get tired of watching it.
It's a formula that never really gets boring to play or to watch.
By the way, that Zelda trailler looks good probably because it wasn't made by Hollywood, but by IGN... Else it would be crap Tongue
And because it consists of a few minutes of strung together high action scenes just like every other epic trailer.
Sorry to double post but I just found this:

No not for everything since it depends on the game. With Zelda I can agree that it's kinda far fetched now but just look at the RE series, awesome games with awesome movies. Silent Hill awesome games with an awesome movie.

Not all game based movies is bound to fail.
And then, for each good game movie, there's stuff like Super Mario Bros., Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Pirate Prince of Caribbean... erm, I mean, Prince of Persia.
And there's the Castlevania movie. it was confirmed, but there's no news on it for quite some time now. The concept poster they released looked badass though. I'm starting
to think it got the axe...
every game based movie sucks or is completely the opposite of the game
