Not sure where to post this, but I'll try here.

I'm running Zelda: The Wind Waker at 1080p, with AA etc maxed, and I sometimes get frame drops to 17fps, albeit not very often. but I sometimes get other little drops to 27 fps for example. I've got it on direct x 11 atm because it was doing it on direct x 9 and I wanted to see if it would change anything, so that isn't the problem.

I followed the settings on the wiki page for wind waker.

My processor is an i7 2600k OC'd to 4.3Ghz. I figure that's more than enough to run this game at 1080p with that stuff enabled?

Also have 16gb 1600mhz ram and an ATi 6870 1gb GPU if that matters too much.

Thanks for any help.

Use DX9, turn down the AA a bit and use EFB to texture. Although with that rig you really shouldn't have any problems, but try it anyway.
what are your temps? maybe down throttling??!! Ö_ö stock cooler?

Nah, my temps are around 40 degrees. I've got a Coolermaster hyper+ 212 or something like that, it was recommended for overclocking and I've seen people push 5ghz with it. Most it hits with benchmark programs is like 60 degrees.

It runs constant 30fps if I drop it to 4x AA, but it's quite a noticable drop in quality to me. I can run games like the witcher 2 at 1080p with 8x AA at around 40fps so i'm SURE i should be able to with this Sad

Then we're done here.

Don't compare PC games to emulation, ever.

Okay, mildly hostile but thanks for your help. Main reason I'm saying this is because I've seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lahZrzXriw that guy running Skyward sword (a more demanding game I'd assume) at the top internal res and everything maxed, and he has an i5. Where I'm having frame problems with the auto scaler in a gamecube game with an i7.

It only seems to slow down when I go full screen... if I run it in the window and max that it sticks to 30... full screen issue maybe?

I've just tried Eternal Darkness and it runs at a constant 50fps with everything maxed, 8x AA, 16x AF and 4x internal resolution...
zelda games / smg1,2 / metroid prime /... are hard to emulate...
not comparable with other wii games
Skyward Sword isn't as demanding, like Dannzen said... Again, do not compare emulation to PC gaming, it can't be applied even for that kind of thing. On emulation a game won't be necessarily harder to emulate just because it's new or seem to have better graphics.

When did I " Again" compare emulation to PC gaming? I wasn't in the first place anyway, I was merely giving an example that I have ran one of the most intensive games with fairly high settings. PC games tend to mostly be the graphics card, so I would have thought that dolphin being primarily CPU dependent would run maxed out on a stock i7, nevermind an overclocked one. I understand that different games have different requirements but I wouldn't have thought that wind waker was more demanding that skyward sword. Especially when I've seen other people saying that Skyward Sword is quite demanding itself.
Noo, I said "again" because I was the second person to say this, but with a different purpose ^^
