Ok from what I remember, Dirge of Cerberus (sequel) sucked, Advent Children was awesome (movie, takes place before DOC and after FF7), FF7 is STILL overrated even though it is awesome, and Crisis Core was basically fan-fiction brought to life (prequel). However, there is no FF7 remakes as of yet, other than an official tech demo by Square-Enix from (god knows when) around 2006.

I know it takes a lot of manpower to get these things done, but I still don't get why they chose FFX to remake rather than FF7, (other than all of the previous assets being essentially thrown away at the end of development for the PSX version and the PC version ending up being like garbage.)

As much as I would like to see a remake coming. It would be better if they didn't.
Ever since Square and Enix merged, their games have been going downhill.
And I don't want them to hype us all, and then crush our dreams with some game that plays itself *coughff13cough*.
People always say FF7 is overrated, it might be by some individuals. But it's still one of the best RPG's you'll ever find.
Imo they should drop the Final Fantasy series and make - focus on more original concepts like "The world ends with you", etc. I think Final Fantasy is among the most milked video game series out there right now...
Garteal : when DacoTaco is talking about "remakes" of FFVII I guess (he will rectify if I'm wrong) he meant a lot of other RPGs had been "influenced" by FFVII. I agree with you it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played and I also agree they shouldn't make a remake (remakes often suck...)

I doubt anything is going to be remade for FFX. Its going to be the same game but at 1080P.

I fear that if they touch TWEWY they wil destroy it aswell, seeing the 'state' they are in right now. (And have been ever since the fusion).
Final Fantasy is number ONE of the most milked franchises so far with CoD right behind them.

Lol, that would be a huge list of 'remakes' then. A remake is something different than game influence though.
If Square-Enix keeps the core of FF7, while expanding items, monsters, locations etc and the Graphics obviously (we all like graphics, right?), that would make an awesome 'remake'.
But seeing them 'remake' FFXIII, they should not even try to remake it at all.
(Also, their game names seem to get worse and worse, FFXIII-2-- really?)
Remakes can be awesome, if made by a proper dev. (ZELDA: OOT is a perfect example).

You might be right
There is fundamental difference between FFX and FFVII "remake"
FFX would only require texture update and engine tweak to function on Vita whereas FFVII would mean making an almost completely new game, which would be expensive.
FFVII isn't even that good anyway, and chances are higher SE would screw it up even more.
