Hello all, thx in advance for any help and happy Thanksgiving!
My son loves super smash bros brawl (watches it on Youtube); its scary lol...
Anyway, I have a Mame cab and am trying to get smash bros brawl to work for him for a Christmas gift.
Problem: its SLOW...
Specs: I'm running a Pent E5200 (2 cores @ 2.5 GHZ ea) w/ 4 GB RAM. Graphics card is ArcadeVGA.
Question: Are these specs slight (CPU or Graphics perhaps?) Screwed settings? What is the best way to get it rolling? I'll upgrade if I have to but obviously would rather save the money...
Any help would make the boy happy for Christamas and help a dad out; thanks in advance for any help!

If you have 64-bit Windows you
might be able to pull it off with a new video card. Otherwise it would be cheaper and less of a headache to get him a used Wii than to make the necessary upgrades and play with the settings to find a non-buggy balance.
This link lists of common glitches and users have posted their system specs saying how well the game works on their hardware.

According to the product page you linked to, the card is based on the R600 chipset. That means the card is (at best) a Radeon HD 38xx, (more likely a 34xx or 2xxx series) with only half a Gigabyte of memory and a maximum resolution of 800x600. Even if it wasn't rewritten for arcade monitors, it's still weak.
But there is hope still, since Dolphin places most of its bulk in the CPU.
What settings are you using? We may be able to coax some more performance out of your current hardware. (Uploading screenshots is the best method of informing us)

A HD 2600 seems to have been sufficient a year or two ago, according to the archives, but the program has evolved since then...
Whys this damn 'reply' button always quote everything every time? lol
Thx again Cat!
OK, first things first:
I'm going to grab the latest version of Dolphin x64, install and try to tweak which won't work cause I don't know what I'm doing but at least I'll have the right software foundation.
Then I'll launch the game; once it chops and tears like mad I'll grab a few screenshots and post them up for help tweaking.
I also need to check my OC setting for my CPU. That part (E5200) is stock at 2.5 Ghz/core; I know I can push more out of that thing; thought I had actually - not sure why its showing stock speed in windows properties.
Thanks again bro i'll check back!

Also wanted to mention that I will be running at 640x480 (i know this stinks but this is the max safe res for my arcade mon) This has to help some right??

My bad for not being more specific, I meant open the Config and Video windows and show us what settings are are selected, not actual gameplay.
Fennecat: Not sure how you're able to get the completely wrong idea here, but it's his CPU that is not fast enough to play the game at full speed. The video card only enables him to run at higher internal resolutions without slowdowns.

The game's Wiki page says it's playable with similar CPUs, so it might be possible with the right settings and possibly an overclock.
Depends how playable he wants it, like fullspeed with 4 players or just 2... and on certain stages only. My specs get slowdowns on plenty of stages with 4 players. (Not to mention items can slow things down further)
