Lol, no. Ive had it for a few years. It comes in handy.
(02-08-2012, 05:05 AM)bOyka8 Wrote: [ -> ]dannzen I saw someone changing his Wii Sensor Bar's cable to USB which is 5volt, but he did remove 2 leds if I was right (the video wasnt 100%)

And 1 more thing , in this video some guy is showing how its done for USB but it doesn't show how to add the usb, just how to remove 2 of the LED's to be able to use 5 volt USB instead of 7.5 volt.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4331919338154120839

So if someone could make something like this + finishing it, would be nice.

I briefly skimmed the video because the audio was so terrible but if you look at 3:45 according to his schematic hes removing and jumping 4 diodes. The easiest way I can think of to power it is to get a doner device (mouse/etc) for the usb. Leave the cord long enough so you can adjust the sensor bars position. Youll need to figure out which wire is +5 and which is ground (if that dudes circuit is correct) so Id find a USB pin out, I wouldnt plug it in hot and try to figure it out with a multimeter, usb ports blow out easy.

It might work without cutting out diodes. Its been a long time with alot of drugs in between but I bet that it will run off of 5 volts the way it is and the only thing effected will be the range. Hook up 3 AA batteries (4.5v) in series and get some paperclips to shove in the sensor bar and test it out.
Did you get it working bOyka8? If so, what method did you go with?

(02-07-2012, 06:39 PM)bOyka8 Wrote: [ -> ]Yeah it has some Wii Connector thing (red usb) and thanks for the search bigdaddy but uhm I prefer a wired one because wireless needs batteries and I'll have to recharge the batteries over time.

The Duracell one I use is rechargeable via USB, it means if I wanted I could just leave it plugged into a USB port/socket and that would eliminate the need to charge it, but if circumstances required, it can be removed from the USB and run wirelessly. This was the main reason I bought this model but I always use it wirelessly anyway... but I hate cables everywhere. The recharging does not bother me, I got a low profile USB plug off eBay a few months ago for a couple of bucks, I just stick it in a socket and let it charge when it's not in use.

Keep us updated with your progress.
I'm still waiting for the delivery, it should be here today/tomorow for sure.

It still looks a bit fuzzy to me on how to do this (I'm a bit scared that I would mess it up/break it because I never did anything like this before) even my dad is scared to do it and he's an electrician. He also says its better to get a video with talking in it because it's not so clear on where to solder (on pictures / text).

I found this
Code:
Take that pair of scissors I mentioned, and snip the sensorbar cable. Also find a usb cable, and snip that too. Twist together the yellow wire from the sensor bar to the silver shielding within the usb cable. Now twist the red wire from the usb cable to the red wire of the sensorbar cable. Tape together if you like, and you're done. Thirty seconds to make a USB sensorbar (provided you're cracking open a v2 sensorbar).
but you should also remove 2 leds from each side I read (only 3 needed at each side)

Distance shouldn't be too much of a problem as I will play it on my PC but maybe later we'll play it on the TV (we sold our old Wii)

I've also seen other tutorials but not the same model as I will have but might come in handy though.

This one seems to be handy though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=SG&feature=related&hl=en-GB&v=3TZ-cKgFKzU

Bigdaddy, I won't buy a new sensor bar yet but if I do it would probably be a sensor bar which already has an USB so no batteries :p.
Ok guys, I've just recieved my Sensor bar and it looks different from the one in the picture. I think it's this one: HDE Wired Infrared Sensor Bar

1) I emoved 6 screws to open the Wii Sensor Bar and remove the black bar
[picture coming when batteries are recharched of my camera]

2) Then I see 3 LED's at left and 3 LED's at right.
[picture coming when batteries are recharched of my camera]

3) ...

So maybe I could just change the cable to USB and it works ?

I have this version of the wiimote and have followed some of this thread but I am getting confused as all hell. Explain it like you think I'm a five year old because when it comes to this stuff thats pretty much what I am.
Although it's yet to work properly for me (I continue to get "no supported bluetooth device detected, only compatable with windows stack" even with the modified version) this is how you do it.

1. Download the toshiba stack here:
http://www.sitecom.com/download/4791/toshiba_8.htm
(might have to click it a few times to get it to work)

2. Get your bluetooth dongle's hardware ID and then uninstall it. Go to control panel, device manager, and click on bluetooth radios. Right click the listed device (ignore the enumerator one), click properties, go to the details tab, and select Hardware ID. It should list something like
USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2148&REV_0818
USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2148
The second number is what you want. Copy that down in notepad.
Now uninstall the device. Then go back to Control Panel, go to Programs and Features, and look for any bluetooth software there and uninstall it.

3. Unplug your bluetooth device.

4. Now extract the zip you downloaded and run setup. Once you get the message to plug in your bluetooth device, open windows explorer and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\Drivers\tosrfusb\
Do not close the installer, just leave it where it is.

5. Copy tosfrusb.inf (or the one described as "system information") into a different folder. You can't edit it directly where it is. Then open the copied one in notepad and add your hardware ID to it. You'll see two lists that start with "%TosrfUsb.DeviceDesc1%=TosrfUsb_Device". The % number increases depending on how many are on the list, ending at 149. They have device IDs next to them. Add your device Id to the bottom of each one, like so:
%TosrfUsb.DeviceDesc150%=TosrfUsb_Device, USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2148
At the very bottom of the file is a place for the device description. Name it whatever you want, though preferrably the actual name of the device. Example:
TosrfUsb.DeviceDesc150 = "IOGEAR USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter (GBU421)"

6. Save changes, then copy the modified tosfrusb.inf back into the original folder. Then plug in your bluetooth device and finally click ok on the installer message. Everything should install as planned and then you will be asked to restart. Do so and everything will be successfully installed.

I solved the issue with dolphin claiming it only supports the microsoft stack while using the toshiba stack. When click new connection, you have to use the advanced setting, not the automatic one. Then start dolphin, go to wii remote and hit refresh and you're done, it works.

Thank you Sukid, this seems to have worked perfectly. Big Grin

Now i just need a new link to remove the evaluation.

Anyone have a new link to remove the evaluation timer?

Thx for help.

So maybe I could just change the cable to USB and it works ?

try it...
the usb voltage is lower than the voltage of 4x AA Batteries
but higher than the voltage of 4 rechargable AA Batteries
4x 1.5 = 6V
4x 1.2 = 4.8V
USB = 5V
So just open the USB cable, RED & BLACK probably then connect red to red and black to gold?

Or else I could try to use this:

Input: 100-240V-
50/60Hz 0.2A
Output: 4.8VV 0.9A
http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml

dont go after the colors Wink
the both outer pins are ground and voltage
just connect them to the -/+ gold pins and take a picture with a "digital cam" and see if there is a light
if you see a light without cam...
its way to much voltage !

but you got a 4xAA sensorbar or?
I've got this one:

And check my previous post too pls, i added an adaptor which i could use too.

Here are some pictures of my Wii Sensor Bar:

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/9196/sdc10592j.jpg
try it with the adapter...
i will do the same tomorrow Wink
and old mobile phone charger and powering the usb bar
you could wait until iam finished
