I'm also curious of which version to get, does the widescreen hack work properly with the GC version? If it is, I think that'll be my choice...

No, widescreen hack causes a lot of graphical issues on GC version...

All differences between the GC and wii versions:

GC version
-manual camera control
-no widescreen support
-slightly faster
-GC controller instead of wiimote
-left handed link

Wii version
-no manual camera control, autocamera only
-16:9 anamorphic widescreen supported
-slightly slower
-wiimote
-entire world is flip flopped to make link right handed so that the controls don't feel awkward
