I doubt you'll see a significant difference in pc gaming. The primary difference between the core i3 and pentium series cpus is HT, which pc games and emulators both tend to gain no benefit from.

get i3 2100 or 2120 cuz the number of threads doesnt help in anything. The mobo could be an Asus P8Z68-V LE(for future upgrades to ivy bridge and pcie 3.0 video cards) and a good video card (up to GTX 560ti or HD 6870) and i think u going to be fine.
