stock cooler? No way, if you want to overclock, you need a good aftermarket cpu cooler.

Stock cooling and OCing is not the best of friends. I'm surprised there is people still using that crap that comes along with the CPU.
I used it for my old E7400 once and the temperatures was horrifying, over 60 degrees Celsius on load which is not acceptable.

Although I think they have to at least ship it with something.

I'm very strict of which games I get to play and I don't allow myself to play anything that I know for sure I wouldn't like.

Holy shit, I just thought of something.
With some games like Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island etc. I couldn't get solid fullspeed in BSNES with the i7 2600K on stock speeds, I wonder how that would run today with the i7 3770K now?
Snes9X is the king but I love BSNES accuracy.

Gotta try this out tomorrow.

Nope BSNES is one of the most accurate SNES emulators out there and requires a REAL GOOD emulation rig.
Trust me when I say that I had slowdowns even on the Sandy Bridge.
It's requirements is sick but the quality of the emulation is AWESOME with the games that run fullspeed.

I'm using ZSnes or SNes9x for my SNes games. I couldn't even imagine a 16-bit emulator "bottlenecking" a Sandy Bridge. Curious to know what will be the result with your Ivy Bridge.
I plan to buy one to second my "ancestor"

Yeah I'm also using Snes9X as my main SNES emulator, it runs all games perfect.

But I love byuu's, the author behind BSNES philosophy of supreme accuracy and it's amazing how far he have come over the years.
I mean now even NES, GB, GBC and GBA games can be emulated with newer releases of BSNES.

Still I have found a couple of others with the same problem running on a Sandy Bridge i7 2600K systems, performance not being 100%
Still it's a killer emu though.

How come you still play with ZSNES Vador? That emulator is a dead sunken ship that I left in 2007.
When Super Mario RPG froze on me it was the drop that made the glass poured over.

Well ZSNes was my first SNes emulator and I've kept on using it but I'll have a look to BSNes. Emulation's amazing me every day. I'm always glad to test something better

OH so it's for nostalgic reasons you kept ZNES all this time, I see I see.

Well let me tell you that I used to love every tiny thing about that emulator for years just like I once did with Nesticle my first NES emulator.

But when the problems started to crawling up it was time to ditch the ship.
Still a new release of ZSNES is to be expected when pigs can fly which is a rough estimate.

I heavily recommend you to take a closer look on BSNES because in a few more releases it's going to be a great multi Nintendo system emulator with great accuracy.

I will. Moreover I didn't know it was a multi-system emulator. very interesting
