Force Texture Filtering checked
Both of these should ALWAYS be unchecked. I seriously don't know why we even have them. Both of these settings reduce accuracy (and therefore can cause problems with some games) for no good reason.
Per pixel lighting is extremely demanding on the gpu and 99% of the time it does not change image quality at all. In a few games it can make shadows/bloom appear slightly sharper, it's debatable whether it even looks better.
Force texture filtering is an option that should definitely be removed. 99% of the textures in most games use bilinear/trilinear filtering already and usually the few textures that don't had it disabled by the developer for a specific reason (usually because for whatever reason it causes image corruption on that particular texture).
I'm glad you pointed this out.
I followed a user called h111's settings for r7719M from the official Skyward Sword thread and when the game worked and looked good I didn't bother thinking much more about it.
Hence why I posted it here.
I admit I haven't tried it without those two settings
But this thread is all about getting in the right direction.
While we're at it you think the settings can be optimized even further NV?
Any more changes that can be made?
Nice thread! I just built a PC very similar to yours (I use a different RAM, have OCed the i5 to 4.5, and my 4950 is unlocked/OCed to a 4970), and have been trying to play Skyward Sword, so this is great. I'm wondering: what bluetooth adapter do you use? Does the motion+ functionality work well for you? My ASUS mobo has built-in BT, which works, but has a frustratingly short range; I am looking at buying a USB dongle with a USB extension cord if necessary so I can play on the TV instead of at the monitor. Also I find myself needing to re-calibrate the motion+ a little more often than I like, and I'm wondering if you have any advice for that (or if the dongle you use doesn't have that issue).

Hi Blunderbluss glad you liked this thread!
The Bluetooth adapter that I'm using is a IOGEAR USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter (GBU421) -
http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Bluetooth-Micro-Adapter-GBU421/dp/B0018O9JIG
I just put in in one of the front USB ports on the rig, no need to touch it ever again.
It's a really good adapter and you can be as much as 30 feet (10 meter) away.
As for the Motion+ experience with Skyward Sword it was 100% accurate.
I had no problem at all with the game both control or game play wise.
I really recommend this one since it have been absolutely trouble free.
Yeah give that one a try, it looks OK and should handle it I hope.
The one I ordered works fine using the Windows stack- I have it on a USB extension cable to the TV so there are no reception issues, and therefore I can't really comment on its range. Seems accurate and responsive though, so I'll stick with it! Thanks for your replies.
That's great to hear. About the range I think 10 meters is about what you hopefully could expect from it, can't be less then 2 meters though.
I'm usually just 1,5 meters away when I play, it's so comfy just laying in the bed and play, the best way for me to relax.
Due to change in hardware this thread will be reinstated with immediate effect.
As soon as I got things in place I will start testing all these games with the new Ivy Bridge.
Hopefully there will be some good news...

And you my friend got lucky, the CPU wasn't DOA.
Thankfully your curse was blocked somehow
Anyway, I might consider reinstall the entire rig, load some new GPU drivers and such to make thing top notch and for more accurate measures.
