Quote:The CPU does affect performance though. If it doesn't, why didn't I get 60fps in SS:Brawl with my old cpu, like I do now when playing 3D?

There is an easy way to test this. Run dolphin without it and note the cpu load in task manager. Then run dolphin with it and note the cpu load in task manager.

That's a good idea; i'll try it when the i5 comes in.

edit: I forgot my GPU was on a PCIe 1.x slot before in my old motherboard. Now it's on a 2.0 slot, so that's probably where I got the performance boost from. I'll check anyway though.
To whom it may concern:

So I managed to dump the BIOS off my GameCube this morning and I love how when you start a game and the GameCube intro jingle plays.
As it have come to my attention, you have to use Real XFB in order to properly use the BIOS, thus I found out the hard way with tons of warnings....ayy caramba

However now that everything is peachy I'd like to know if there is any major downsides using Real XBF? From what I understand it pretty much plays the game as it would on the real console with no bling bling sharp image quality etc.
Is there a higher possibility that Dolphin crashes with Real XFB or could I safely use this? I really love the authentic feel turning on a game and see that jingle.
The two major downsides are that it runs at native res and it's a bit slower.

The overall possibility of crashes would be lower with Real XFB. It fixes more than it breaks, let's say.

Also, I find the OpenGL Real XFB to be more compatible than the Direct3D versions.
Interesting, so it actually fixes more things then it breaks.
Well I could certainly give up a few things to get a more authentic experience.

The last couple of days I have begun a new quest when it comes to emulation and it is to make the games look nearly the same as on the consoles.
I'm feeling more and more that the image quality isn't a huge part anymore but instead to reproduce the authentic feeling.

Sure I can't say that Twilight Princess looks bad in super sharp quality, but it's not how I remembered it back i 2006.

Thanks for the explanation, I feel confident using the BIOS now with Real XFB.
Virtual works too btw :3

Not sure if there is really a point in chossing tho, perhaps virtual doesn't make it low res?

It works, but it is not as compatible as Real.

I was only talking about the opening of the GC bios
Well I have tried a couple of games now and it doesn't look to bad with Real XFB and it certainly feels authentic.
I'm real satisfied now.
