I got this macbook for like $600 and the pros of a macbook are mainly the battery usage. Windows doesn't have the same power management methods as macs do and macs can last like 4 or more hours on a single charge which is nice for school. Despite the hardware, its actually up to par with a lot of stuff out there in this price range and has a nice looking body. and its my first laptop i can pickup with one hand really easily.
Look guys, this forum isn't to argue about a macbook its about answering the question. I'll try it out on windows and see how it goes, thanks.

Its all personal preference kid, mac just, works.
Theres no way in hell i'd pay $600 for one of those 400 to 500 dollar 2007 models. The aluminum bodies were late 2008 models and the $ = totally worth it for me at least.
I can still manage to get decent gaming out of it, i can play GOW at medium to high settings on max res at like 40 fps - its a nice looking game. Dolphin should run fine for the most part considering and performance is mainly off of CPU power (2.4ghz ain't bad for 2008).
I used to have a gaming laptop and the thing was a beast but it was falling apart on me, too much maintenance and no battery life and i know hardware pricing. I know what i was paying for.
2008 models have better graphics cards than the new 2011 models for the 13"ers. that made me lol fow show. Apple *sigh*, i love your overly expensive polished products.
4 hours with dolphin ?

My laptop only last 30min with dolphin and 4h 30min with powerpoint , 3h with internet browsing
Nevermind, I'm joking
But that Macbook could only play some Gamecube game as long as it not overheat
Run dolphin and realtemp at the same time . If the "thermal status" change from "ok" to "Log" , your laptop is overheating
Oh stop the crapping guys, it's his choice, and like I said, MBP is a goddamn solid laptop (build wise), I would love to see wndows laptop with that kind of build quality. It's not a total loss (well, aside from the OS that is).
@OP
Bootcamping Windows 7 is your best bet here.

Well, that's what occurs when you name the thread "Mac vs PC." when you just want to know which Os to choose. Macs are ok, but many of us really don't have too much patience with anyone with a laptop trying to use Dolphin, specially with that specs.

You mean for Dolphin right?
What? his spec is fine for some game in dolphin, I've seen someone with worse spec yet receive warm welcome here.

One does not buy a laptop solely to play dolphin. Mac OSX while a highly crippled OS, is still a solid OS, this is based on user experience and not sheep-bashing.

You are exactly right. If i wanted a gaming machine i woulda kept my old laptop with a 9800m gs DDR3 video card. The macbook was mainly for school. I have an xbox for gaming.
I just think its funny cause i used to be a pc fanboy untill i got older and tired of trying to fix everything wrong in windows all the time then as soon as i even MENTION a macbook, all hell breaks loose. bahahaha

If by "build quality" you mean "shiny and durable aluminum body" asus makes the zenbook for that:

If you mean reliability and durability IBM/lenovo beats apple in every single measurable way:

A quick google search will reveal dozens or hundreds of similar statistics and reviews done by many organizations. The only advantage apple has over them is macosx, if you don't think macosx is better than windows/linux then don't buy from them, it's that simple. But you cannot justify apple being better than every other laptop brand by saying "they have better build quality", especially when you don't define what build quality means.
I myself have a 2008 macbook that a friend gave me for free since he upgraded, so that's my only personal experience with owning a macbook. The hardware was OK, the keyboard is nice but the proprietary ports were annoying (and apple charging rediculous prices for the adapters). It overheated and downthrottled very easily when running stressful software (something I notice seems to be quite common amoung dolphin users running on macbooks). The battery life was about the same as my other laptops with similar specs at the time. I stopped using it mainly because of macosx. I noticed that the macosx versions of my favorite software tended to be inferior/buggier than the windows version. The OS hardware support was inferior as well, several of my favorite peripherals don't work with macosx (I had to buy an apple snowball mic. just to get a working mic.). It also crashed more often than any of my other laptops running windows or linux (in fact I don't think I've ever had a linux OS crash on me, ever). It was just so frustrating to use I got sick and tired of it after awhile and just put linux mint on it.
Now if you like macosx for some reason then go ahead and buy one, I just don't personally think it's worth it.

Well that must have been a long time ago because for the two years I've been on this forum whenever someone has a laptop with a 9400m we tell them to give up, it's often too weak even for running games at native resolution (it performs in between an 8500GT and 8600GT/9400GT to give you an idea of how weak it is). His cpu is OK for GC games and totally insufficent for most wii games.
For the record I have no problem with the OP owning a macbook pro, I have a problem with the constant stream of factually incorrect statements. I continue to be baffled to this day why such a high percentage of macosx users seem to think we pick on them for being mac users rather than the content of their posts and the logic that they use.
Statements like:
Quote:Windows doesn't have the same power management methods as macs do and macs can last like 4 or more hours on a single charge which is nice for school.
and
Quote:Despite the hardware, its actually up to par with a lot of stuff out there in this price range
and
Quote:2008 models have better graphics cards than the new 2011 models for the 13"ers.
and
Quote:I just bought a new macbook pro
and
Quote:they are decent because of the portability
and
Quote:mac just, works.
etc.
Are just flat out wrong. Now bring on the flaming that this post will inevitably create.
