Hey Guys ! Cool
---------------------------------------
i'm planning on upgrading my CPU and Motherboard because i believe AMD CPUs is not what i need because its still inferior to its intel counterparts( i was on a budget okay? i had to buy that useless junk, don't judge me Rolleyes !!

Now i've got my 6850HD installed on my old system (the cpu causing major bottleneck)....

Would i get a bottleneck by GPU in PC games and dolphin if i upgrade to sandybridge platform (i5 2500K)...@720p+4xSSAA ? and how's the performance of that i5 in most intensive games in dolphin (SMG/SMG2) ?

PS: im not very keen on overclocking Dodgy

Thank You Guys in advance Big Grin
An i5 will run almost anything at fullspeed, but u still need to overclock to like 4.5ghz to get fullspeed in SMG2/1
You'll get good performance for sure. Which card do you plan to use?
Edit : ok you plan to use your 6850. I had skipped you wanted to use it Tongue
thanks guys Big Grin
uhmm...yeah i'll use the 6850 for a while Big Grin
Out of curiosity..should i really wait for ivy bridge ?

Then why the heck do you want a k?
An i5-2500k is really easy to overclock as long as you have a good cooler. Intel suggests a maximum of 1.35 volts for a safe everyday overclock that won't limit the CPU's lifespan in any meaningful manner. That should get you around 4.5GHz which is good enough for almost any game on Dolphin. The K CPUs are marketed for their overclocking ability so why would you buy one if you don't want to OC?

Well, you can run a good bunch of games without any overclocks so it's your call really. I just like being able to play any of my games.

And then some. Tongue

Just out of curiosity have ever / can u run IntelBurnTest. Can you tell me what the speed (Gflops) of your 2500k is @ 4.5ghz ?

EDIT : nvm found some
this n00b again: Intel Core i5 2500K @4.5GHz, RAM 1600MHz 9-9-9-24GFLOPS:63.3
jonesey17: Intel Core i7 2600K @5GHz, RAM 1600MHz 8-8-8-20GFLOPS:130.8
lethalrise750: Intel Core i7 2600K (HT OFF) @4.8GHz, RAM 1600MHz 9-9-9-25GFLOPS:125.3

EDIT2:
fuck it ima ditch this 1090t (fuck AMD) and get a 2600k.

Something always has to bottleneck or you would be getting milion fps lol.
GPU is good bottleneck, thats what everybody wants. It means your pc is capable of pushing your card to the limits. In which case,if you get faster cards,or buy a second one,you would get more perfomance, which means gpu is bottleneck.
