When your a 3 year old obsessed with playing your brothers' awesome new game, it becomes entrenched in your mind. I beat the game that year, and have subsequently beaten it 8 times. The nostalgia level for that game is ridiculous for me.

I've remembered stuff since before I was 2. I thought that was normal, but apparently it's not really given what I've heard from my friends. My memory seems to be really strong.
My sister played mario games around me a lot when I was that age. When I go back and play the old SNES mario games I recognize things but I wouldn't really call that a memory. I can't actually remember watching my sister play these, I just know that it must have happened. I guess they are memories, just a different type of memory, more like an instinct or when you run into someone and think to yourself "I know him/her from somewhere".

Life basically started for me at 9-10, anything before that was just glimpses from a dream.
Ha ha you guys are funny. Everyone should be able to remember their childhood from 3-4 years of age.
I remember back in 1988-1989 when I was three-four years old playing Super Mario Bros, Goonies II, Track & Field II, Clu Clu Land, Ice Climbers, Slalom, Zelda, Metroid and Kid Icarus etc. on my cousins NES.
It was great times, I later inherited that NES and I got all kind of awesome games for birthday and christmas presents the following years to come. Mega Man 4 was he best gift ever back in 1992.

That sounds about right. I'm the same way.
Guess I'm like an elephant then. I have a lot of memories (distinct and specific ones) from way back when, both for gaming and everyday life. I can't really say I remember my early childhood any less than I do my teens and early adolescence.
I remember pretty much everything that I was taught during that era (facts, numbers, etc.) but not memories of specific events that actually happened to me......

Then again my memory has always been like that, even now.
One thing I have no recollection whatsoever was the Quake of '89. My whole family and I were there for it, but that's a complete blank. I don't think it actually happened :p

For gaming though, I remember playing Tecmo Bowl with my Dad. I played Disney's Adventures in the Magic Kingdom a lot (it was a crappy game though) and SMB. We also had SMB3, but apparently my parents lost it. How do you lose such a great game? Inconceivable, I tell you. I mostly watched my mom play LoZ. When I tried to play it once, I died within two screens, so I just let a "pro" handle it. One of my cousins dented the gold cartridge when he borrowed it, but it still worked. Around the time my sister was born, we got the Sega Genesis. I remember that day when we went to Toys R Us and bought the bundle pack with Sonic The Hedgehog. Sonic defined most of my life as it related to games all the way up to 2000.

... Now I feel old.
Yeah, this unable to remember stuff at this age of mine is really bugging me and it happens alot for me with people. I might meet you today but by tomorrow i would've forgotten your face and name unless you remind me of some event that lights up my memory of you. I unconsciously now use a kind of fail-safe mechanism whenever i meet someone, i treat them as though we've met before even if we have or havent, i just hope no one notices this weakness of mine and decide to take advantage of it Tongue
