I tend to update to more recent builds if the changelog includes something that I think I'll benefit from. Recently there's been a lot of rather nice branch merges, so I've updated several times in the past few weeks.

Well....gotcha force doesn't seem to work for me anymore... graphics is distorted.....would downloading an earlier version work?

Lol, "biweekly" makes me remember nakee ^^
What is that?
I think it's a member from the past, I remember the name nakee now when he said it.
On-topic:
Have I understood all of this correctly, there won't be a 3.1 or a 4.0 release in the future?
You have to forgive me but it's been a while since I've been here and it's only recently I've been catching up.

4.0? Definitely, but that's a loooooong time in the future.
3.1? Probably. The devs have shot down the idea of biweekly builds but seem interested in the idea of releasing intermediate official builds before 4.0 (3.1/3.2 etc.) "when it's ready".
I know that you have this bizarre idea that you should only use the official builds because the unofficial builds are "unstable" or "unreliable" but ever since the move to git there really is no reason to consider the official builds any more stable or reliable than the most recent git builds. In fact 3.0 is actually significantly LESS stable than the current git revision.
Have you been brought up to speed on the new GIT system yet (I know it was implemented sometime after you left)?

So technically we can say that it's more or less as it used to be on the front regarding releases of official builds.
3.1 is not an impossibility I suppose then.
Yeah sadly I do have that bizarre idea of only using the official stable releases of emulators.
Dolphin and PCSX2 is the only exceptions in which I have used SVN builds to try new things out.
And using the new GIT builds of Dolphin ain't gonna be much different from using any other build.
I don't have any major issues with the games I play now in 3.0, but it would be interesting to see how in which speed may have been improved, allthough that isn't a major problem either.

Well what games do you have? Because there have been A LOT of fixes since 3.0, in my opinion 3.0 is already pretty old/outdated. Then again I remember you using 2.0 back when everyone else was using 6505 and up INSISTING that you would wait until 3.0 was released to update. A lot of people thought you were nuts for saying that, myself included.

He he well I would lie to you all if I said I wasn't nuts because I am and I have my own weird ideas about things.
I remember back in april when I created a thread called "My own random Dolphin escapades" I posted some screens from the games I used at that time with a SVN version just for shits and giggles.
I have purchased some new games since then which I now use in Dolphin.
Have even thought of dusting that old thread off with some new fresh material.
Here's a simple list of the games I use today:
Luigi's Mansion
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Mario Sunshine
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 0
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
Mario Kart Double Dash!!
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Wario World
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Wario Land: The Shake Dimension
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metroid: Other M
Super Paper Mario
No special games I would say, I don't have any major problems with these games in 3.0 honestly.
Some might consider the latest stable official release of PCSX2, 0.9.8 being old and outdated but hell I use it regularly.
Right now I don't know anything specific to test that I know of.
I do what I always do, turn on the PC, start Dolphin and play some Wii or GC games and turn it off.
Nothing exciting happens between the sessions, no errors, no nothing.

SMG/SMG2 have at least one random crash issue (unknown pointer 0xC0000005) in 3.0 that is fixed in the current git revisions (and probably other games too). It's in your best interest to use the latest git revision.

Well I don't really worry about that mate
It's the same thing with those Zelda Twilight Princess howling stone crashes people have had, never happened here and never will happen.Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 have worked great all the sessions I've played in 3.0
I'm not playing an insane amount of hours of each game, maybe just a few levels to relax. Also I like to beat the hell out of Bowser on the final levels.
I don't know, maybe I'm just an lucky dude.
And I don't feel it's in my best interest in using the latest dirty GIT revisions at all when I have a good thing going on here with 3.0
But don't get me wrong here, I can test things out occasionally if I see some new feature or anything else that comes to my attention.
To quote [SS] Starscream from the [Wii] Donkey Kong Country Returns thread of a post I made yesterday:

If everyone did that we'd have 50% less stupid threads.
I feel quite good using 3.0, it's a very good solid release in my book.
