Unfortunately your motherboard does not support AM3 cpu, I suggest to scourge cash for cheap P67 board and an i3 processor, should hold you up nicely.

Edit: forgot you'd have to buy ddr3 ram too, though ram is cheap nowadays.

Could you suggest any cheaper setups? I cant spend ~300 $ atm.
=/

For 300$ you can buy intel i5 2400 + motherboard with h61 chipset and 4 gb ddr3 ram
Fro 150$ you can buy intel pentium dual core e6600 or e6700 procesor motherboard with g41 chipset and 4gb ddr3 ram
I would strongly suggest first option,as that procesor is much faster.
But,even pentium dual core will be faster then your old athlon x2
H61 will seal his upgrade path to ivy bridge, and disallow multiplier overclocking if he ever get a K processor. LG775 is a dead platform, I would advise against buying it, you'd much better off saving money to get better value and future proofing.
Is this okay?

Mainboard

RAM

CPU

Hey I thought you're tight on budget Wink

I'd say Squeeze a bit more for 2500K
the mainboard is hard oversized Big GrinBig Grin really hard oversized
search one for 50-70€
We still don't know what power supply you're using. We need that information.

If your power supply needs to be upgraded: i3 2100 ($125) + H61 motherboard from asus or gigabyte ($75) + antec 550 watt PSU ($70) + 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM ($30) = $300

If your power supply does not need to be upgraded: i5 2400 ($190) + H61 motherboard from asus of gigabyte ($75) + 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM ($30) = $295

Of course your prices are different. 300 euros will buy you more than 300 American dollars.

Ideally if you can afford a i5 2500K and a P67 or Z68 motherboard go for it.

Edit: Yeah a i5 2500k + P67 or Z68 motherboard + 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM ($30) = 330 euro at the cheapest, a little bit over your budget

If you could bump your budget up to 400 euro you could get:

h61 will support ivy bridge, where did you get the idea it wont ?
From wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1155
All Sandy Bridge chipsets except Q65, Q67 and B65 support both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs, though for the latter CPUs a BIOS upgrade is required
LGA775 is dead platform, but it is best anyone can get for only $150.
Fantersam,
What you posted is not ok because you tried to pair up old i5 nehelem cpu with new sandy bridge motherboard. You have to buy new sandy bridge i5 cpu
I wouldn't count on it, and It won't do him good if he ever get K processor. I wouldn't invest on dead platform, even if it means holding back and saving for later upgrade, it's just silly.

Didn't realize he was linking to LGA1156 cpu though :p
And who says he plans to overclock? If he's not going to overclock there is no point in him getting a K series cpu. And if he is not getting a K series cpu then there is no point in buying anything above an H61.
